LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN
PreK-1st Grade—Diana Dahl & Glenn Fox
November 1—We will celebrate Mass on the Feast of All Saints on
Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 8:00 AM. This is not a Holy Day of
Obligation since it falls on a Saturday.
Following with our tradition, we are inviting families of those who
were buried this past year from Holy Redeemer to Mass on Saturday, November 1 at 5:00 PM (the vigil Mass for All Souls Day).
FATHER BROWN’S CORNER
You might not have noticed if you haven't driven through the parking lot, but the last of the chain link
fence around the field has been replaced by a more permanent and attractive wrought iron (actually steel)
fence. The Holy Redeemer Athletic Association took up and paid for this project. They decided since the
fence on the Lockwood side looked so nice, they wanted to make that gift to the parish. This is just one of
the many things HRAA has done for the good of the parish. It was their initiative and money that led to
the recent renovation of the athletic field. Besides that, they largely pick up the expense of outfitting and
maintaining the gym. Of course of all of this is done for our children who play CYC sports: soccer, basketball, volleyball. There are literally thousands of children who over the years have participated in our
parish- sponsored sports programs. Many of these are our parishioners, but others are simply children in
the neighborhood who are seeking this kind of wholesome athletic involvement. All of these services are
provided by a huge group of volunteers who do everything from selling concessions, coaching the teams,
tending to uniforms and supplies, setting up and tearing down for contests and many, many others tasks.
While most of our families are able to pay the modest entry fees for our sports programs, HRAA is always
ready to assist those who may have a financial need. The parish is grateful to the group for all that they
contribute to the wellbeing of our youngsters and the health of the parish.

“Whoever sacrifices to any god, save to the Lord only,
shall be utterly destroyed.” EXODUS 22:20
Do you put other “gods” before God? Is your love of
money, power, status or some personal possession greater
than your love for God? If so, you may want to pay attention to the scripture reading because you are not going to
like the outcome. The good news—it’s not too late to put
God first in your life.

“Dear Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Holy Redeemer Parish:
You helped me get my electricity turned back on last month. I’m
sorry it took so long in sending this letter of thanks. Without your
generosity, I would not have been able to make that payment and
most likely, still. I am 64 years old, in a wheelchair, and live
along. My little disability check sometimes does not stretch far
enough to make ends meet. I know with God’s help you were
there for me at a time I most needed your help. I appreciate your
most generous gift to the electric company.

STEPHEN MINISTERS
October is Respect Life Month! As Catholics, we believe that all human life is sacred from conception to natural death. It is important for Catholics to pray for an end
to abortion and to contact our elected leaders and demand
that abortion become illegal.
October is the month of the rosary as well as Pro-life
month. This October, we will be saying the pro-life rosary on Tuesday nights at 7:15 in the church before the
Blessed Sacrament, followed by the chaplet of Divine
Mercy.
