Lance R. Peterson, MD
Dr. Peterson graduated from University of Minnesota,
Minneapolis, MN, with a medical degree specializing in
Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He holds
certifications in Infectious Diseases and Medical
Microbiology since 1981.
Dr. Peterson has had a prominent role in developing
MRSA and C. difficile molecular testing methods for
laboratories. Recent research activities involve the best
use of antimicrobial agents, molecular test methods for
infectious diseases, and the use of information
technology to leverage infection control activities for
patient safety. He strongly believes in developing rapid
methods to detect pathogens and quantifying the
outcomes of hospitalized patients. Dr. Peterson is also
a world renowned speaker, often speaking overseas to
share his vision.
Dr. Peterson has authored and co-authored numerous
publications, especially in the diagnosis of C. difficile.
Currently Dr. Peterson is serving as the Director of
Microbiology and Infectious Disease Research at North
Shore University Health System, Evanston IL.
