Our Horse Show may be cancelled due to inclement weather. If there is doubt, please contact our Show Chairman. 2. All riders’ ages are as of September 1, 2014. Junior division is 8-13 years old, Senior division is 14-18 years old, and Open division is any and all riders 8 years through adult. 3. To be eligible for 4-H Fee rate, youth must be an enrolled member at least 7 days prior to the scheduled show. 4. Exhibitors may compete in all divisions. Proper show attire required. 5. Rider must show original or notarized copy of a current negative Coggins test upon entrance to the show grounds or to Show Secretary, at every show. No Exceptions! 6. All State of Florida health regulations must be followed. 7. Riders must submit "Statement of Risk” to the show secretary prior to first class ridden in our show series. 8. Entry fees must be paid at time of registration, or a signed check left with the show secretary. Class fees refunded on any canceled class. Riders owing fees from a previous show will not be allowed to register until back fees are paid. 9. Unsportsmanlike conduct, cruelty to animals, or excessive rail coaching shall be cause for dismissal by judge or show management. 10. Walk-Trot Division: any horse/rider combination that has never cantered or loped in any show or competition. 11.* GREEN RIDER Has not yet won 3 blue ribbons in riding classes at any show. (Lead line not applicable) 12.* GREEN HORSE Has not yet won 3 blue ribbons in riding classes at any show. SAFETY AND OTHER RIDER RULES 13. All youth riders are required to wear an SEI or SEI/ASTM approved safety equestrian helmet with fastened chin harness in all classes, all warm-up and make-up areas. Additionally, appropriate footwear must be worn at all times, (no tennis shoes or sport shoes are acceptable.) Failure to comply may result in disqualification. 14. No stallions will be permitted on grounds. No dogs, except on leash. Keep horses away from secretary's area. 15. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor's parent/guardian, or rider, if of legal age, to determine if he/she is able to compete safely. When no parent is present, the judge or division chairman has the right to determine this. 16. Management may stop or cancel a class in progress due to storm, accident or other emergency. 17. Hunter rules not addressed here or in the State 4-H Horse Show Rule Book, are governed by USA Equestrian. Western rules not addressed here or in the State 4-H Horse Show Rule Book will be governed by AQHA. 18. The Alachua Co. Extension Service & 4-H Horse Project committee are not responsible for any accident or loss that may occur to any animal, person, or property, nor damage to vehicle. The exhibitor shall hold harmless and indemnify above against any such accident or loss. CONDUCT OF CLASSES 19. Pony Heights: 14.2 & under 20. Classes held for one minute gate call. Fees not refunded if missed. 21. 4-H reserves the right to cancel or combine classes with less than 3 entries and add a class for 3 entries. 22. Show management may modify or alter any class procedures, obstacles, or patterns due to safety concerns. 23. State 4-H equipment rules will apply. The official judge may be called upon to rule on any questionable equipment. 24. H /W are combined Hunter and Western classes with one set of ribbons and points. 25. No re-ride will be given a rider for failure of personal equipment or accident in any class. 26. Striking a horse in front of cinch with anything other than the open hand is a disqualification. Striking the horse with anything, including the hand, in front of the throatlatch is a disqualification. 27. Schooling over fences shall be allowed as announced by show chairman. 28. Riders may not School over Trail Obstacles.(Pattern may be walked before 11am) AWARDS/ PLACINGS JUDGES 30. Decisions of judges final. Other protests to be filed in writing with $50 cash fee to show chair at end of class. Cash fee refunded if protest upheld by Appeals Committee. 31. Six place awards per class. Points are scored on a 6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. For less than 6 riders, first place points will equal number of riders in the class. Daily High Point Show Awards DAILY HIGH POINTS are awarded to the horse/rider combination in Walk-Trot, Junior, Senior, and Open Divisions. A horse and rider team may ride in multiple divisions but cannot choose or win more than one highpoint. Exhibitor must indicate on the Entry Form a desire to compete for a certain division highpoint so that points will be tracked. Participation in Showmanship class is required for high point eligibility, and showmanship points will be used as a tiebreaker in any tie. For those competing for highpoints, open class points that span multiple categories will go to the highpoint division chosen on the registration form. Exhibitors competing for highpoints in two different divisions with different horses must compete in showmanship with each horse to be eligible for the respective high point awards. Different back numbers must be used for each horse. Highpoints will be awarded at the end of the show day. If a winning exhibitor has left for the day the award may be picked up at the extension office.
