HEMINGTON, HARDINGTON & FOXCOTE PARISH COUNCIL www.hemington-pc.org.uk Find us on Facebook NOVEMBER 2014 FAULKLAND GREEN From your comments you are as pleased as we are with the work done to the two horse chestnuts on Faulkland Green. A sobering thought though: in the opinion of tree surgeon James Nash, each tree is nearing the end of its life. We are getting a second opinion and will keep you posted. In the medium term the look of the Green may change. PLANNING In rejecting the appeal for three houses and garages at Townsend Farm, Faulkland, the inspector accepted that Mendip has a 5-year housing supply and so any development outside the limits will be strictly controlled. The inspector says that ‘The Old’ Chapel’ and ‘The Barn’ mark a clear division between built-up village and open countryside. To allow development would harm the character of the village. TEMPORARY POST OFFICE The Village Hall Committee and the PC have agreed to support two weekly half-day Post Office sessions in Faulkland Village Hall for the next year. It is hoped the post office will be open for business this month. Please support this experiment with your business. ALLOTMENTS The PC is considering if it can afford to plough and/or rotavate the land (plot markers would have to be removed and replaced) in a final attempt to attract allotment holders. Would you be interested in a plot if the land is properly prepared? NEXT PARISH COUNCIL MEETING Wednesday 12 November 2014, 7.30pm, Faulkland Village Hall.
