At Bangor Memorial Park, a Veteran’s Day Community Service was held to honor all those have served in our military. Donald Jones was the master of ceremonies. The Bangor Middle School Band played the na- tional anthem as well as other selected songs. Rev. Franklin Stinner of the Trinity Lutheran Church gave the invocation and benediction and Bangor Mayor Joseph Capozzolo and Roseto Mayor Joseph Angelini both gave welcoming remarks. Guest speaker for the service was Mr. Duane Miller. Representatives of the VFW Fall Open House at Horn’s Outdoor & Legion Posts, Bob Steltz and Gene Trigiani participated in the wreath presentation. Merlin Repsher, Roseto Legion Post 750 and Steve DeFranco, commander played Taps and did the Firing Squad Salute. A luncheon was held at the Bangor Elk’s after the ceremony. Continued from pages 1- Veteran’s Day Pius X Jr/Sr High School commemorated Veteran’s Day at an assembly on Tuesday. Mr. Richard Black will be the guest speaker for the 9:00am assembly. Mr. Black was stationed aboard the USS Ogden and USS Durham. He was assigned to SEAL Team Two and SEAL Team Eight in Norfolk, VA. Mr. Black is a retired Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer. His enlistment began in 1981 and he remained on active duty until his retirement in 2005. He was a Senior Enlisted Leader at the US Naval Academy, Command Career Counselor and SEAL Platoon Leading Chief Petty Officer. He also held the positions of Military Freefall and Static Line Jump Master, Naval Special Warfare Scout/Sniper Honor man, Emergency Medical Technician and Special Operations Parachute Rigger. As an instructor and mentor at the US Naval Academy he trained midshipmen in leadership, physical fitness, basic war fighting skills, basic parachuting techniques and taught classes such as swimming and rock climbing. He taught midshipmen selected for the Naval Special Warfare the basics of SEAL Junior Officer Duties and responsibilities, world geography and other aspects of special operations. Bring your family to this wonderful concert and create a holiday tradition, where in doing so you will be helping to build the Y for your family. Their music is inspired by the well-known band ‘Trans-Siberian Orchestra’ and their show is more than just music with a total of 17 performers – a six-piece rock band, four-piece string section, six lead vocalists, and an angel storyteller – Twelve Twenty Four brings the magic of Christmas alive to their show. Established in 2002, Twelve Twenty Four will performs its Christmas music with a theatrical, rock edge and combines it with a narrated storyline to create a family-friendly holiday show suitable for all ages.
