What is an inversion?
Can i get to the town of Jackson if
i don't have my own car?
START Bus runs continual service from Teton Village to Jackson
from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily. The bus stop is located in front of
the Clock Tower Building. For a schedule call 307.733.4521, visit
startbus.com or pick up a bus schedule at the bus stop or at your
concierge desk.
Where should i take the kids for mountain
sports school & day care?
To the Cody House which is located just above the Bridger Gondola.
When entering the Village area, turn left and follow the signs to the
Kids Ranch, 307.739.2788. Here, you can also find a list of baby
sitters.
An inversion occurs when the temperatures in the valley are much
colder than the temperatures on the mountain. Inversion days will
often result in warmer temperatures on the mountain. If you hear
the word inversion there is only one place to be and that is up on
the mountain.
What takes place in teton Village during the
summer months?
Do you need a special ticket to go out-ofbounds?
No. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort neither encourages nor discourages guests from enjoying terrain in the backcountry. Make
sure you know backcountry safety before you go and have the
necessary equipment with you such as an avalanche beacon,
probe and shovel. Please discuss backcountry questions with any
member of the ski personnel. Alternatively, hire a guide for the
day and receive firsthand knowledge. Guide Service
307.739.2663.
Teton Village transforms into a beautiful summer destination
offering a wide variety of lodging, dining and shopping options. The
Village Commons with its natural amphitheater
provides an excellent setting for music performances and family
programming. The pop-jet fountain and the playground provide
hours of entertainment for the kids.
The Aerial Tram, the Bridger Gondola and the Teewinot Chairlift
run throughout the summer months and provide access to great
hiking, mountain biking, wildlife viewing and amazing views of the
valley.

First time here?
What's In A Name?
The name “Hole” originated from early trappers or mountain
men who entered the low lying valley from the surrounding
steep slopes, giving it a sensation of a “hole”. The valley is
thought to have been named after a fur trapper, David Edward
"Davey" Jackson. Descriptions of the valley and its features
were recorded in the journals of John Colter, who had been a
member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Colter entered
the region in 1807 in the vicinity of Togwotee Pass and
became the first white American to see the valley.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the ski area, located in
Teton Village and “Jackson” generally refers to the Town of
Jackson, the urban area, 12 miles from Teton Village.
Jackson Hole Weather
Like any mountain environment, the weather in Jackson Hole
can vary greatly and change rapidly. Jackson Hole Mountain
Resort averages 459 inches of snow each winter. The town of
Jackson receives less snow but generally there will be snow on
the ground all winter long. Roads are well-plowed and driving
in the winter is relatively easy. It's not un-common to get
inversions, where the temperature on the mountain is actually
warmer than at the base or in the valley. In any case, plan to
be immersed in a wintry wonderland.

upcoming Arrival of teton lift
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is excited to announce the initial phase of construction of
the new Teton Lift, which will open for the 50th Anniversary Winter Season in 2015/2016.
Upon completion, the 1722 vertical foot lift will provide guests with access to Crags and
legendary terrain, all with the convenience of a mid-mountain high-speed quad lift. In the
meantime, the new Kemmerer run will be opening to provide fresh trails in the developing
area. This, in addition to the 2012 opening of the new Casper Lift and intermediate
playground, continues the resort’s commitment to on-mountain accessibility and overall
guest experience. Stay tuned for more big announcements for our exciting 50th Anniversary
Season in 2015/2016. For more information: www.jacksonhole.com.
introducting Off-Piste Market
Off-Piste Market will be opening its doors to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort guests this
winter in the Rendezvous Lodge at the top of the Bridger Gondola. Whether you need
a delicious snack to pack in your backpack or prefer to take in views over a hot slice
of Sicilian pizza, Off-Piste has a convenient option for you. The market will offer a full
espresso bar, gourmet food, beer, wine, and small ski essentials like hand warmers and
batteries. For more information: www.jacksonhole.com
