PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION 29/30 November 2014 23 November 2014 Christ the King “…as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me” – Matthew 25:40 Most of us are generous when it‘s convenient for us. We are generous when we have the time or the money. But, generosity is the opposite of that. It means giving of one‘s time, money, compassion, forgiveness, mercy when it‘s not convenient; when it‘s not on our schedule, but on the other person‘s schedule. PARISH NEWS and NOTICES The Kingship we Celebrate The celebration of the Solemnity of Christ the King marks the end of the liturgical year of the church. At this celebration, we mark the kingship of Christ. Pointedly, His kingship is not of this world; not the kingly, majestic type. Jesus avoided all earthly manifestation of fame, power and authority. Today we celebrate the kingship of service, humility, obedience, justice, love and peace. Christ came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many (Matt 20:28, Mk. 10:45). A humble servant who offered His life in humble obedience to the will of the Father (Matt 11:29; Heb. 5:7), and who never clung to his equality with the Father (Phil 2:6). The crown of his kingship is the crown of thorns, while his throne is the cross! Today, we celebrate the kingship that qualifies us as heirs of the Father. As we celebrate, we are encouraged to replicate His kingship on earth, and particularly, in our parishes. My sincere thanks to all who shared their talents last week when we celebrated the Youths Mass. Thank you for manifesting the many different gifts you have received. Well Done and God bless!!! Fada Malachy PRAYER FOR RAIN: Loving Father, protector and provider of everything created, we thank you for your blessings.
