All are invited to “Blue thChristmas” on
Thursday, December 18 , beginning at
7:00 PM at the United Church of
Christ, located at 902 Broad Street. Blue
Christmas is a simple, quiet service for
those who are feeling less than merry as Christmas approaches.
This service offers a message of comfort and hope to help
through times of struggle during the holidays. It acknowledges
the pain and sadness many people feel at Christmas time, due
to the loss of a loved one, struggles with illness or loneliness,
financial struggles, or painful family dynamics that surface at
Christmas time. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Feel free to invite family, friends, neighbors, or others who you
may feel concern for during this holiday season.

No Room At The Inn: Approximately 300 people attended the
“No Room At The Inn” nativity collection display at St. Mary’s
on November 21st. 163 nativities were on display and donations totaled $515.54. The donations collected will be distributed as follows: 1/2 to St. Joseph's Emergency Family Shelter,
1/4 to purchase food for the MICA food pantry and the remaining to the Grinnell, Montezuma and Brooklyn Ministerial Associations to assist local and transient homeless and nearhomeless families and individuals. Many St. Mary’s parishioners donated their time and talent to make this event a success.
You may have shared a nativity set, helped set up the displays,
greeted people who attended, shared your musical talent,
served refreshments, made a donation or said a prayer. For all
of those efforts and more—Thank You! As we continue our
preparations for Christmas may we continue to pray for those
who find no room at the in.

The Adult Catholic Faith Discussion (formerly "Catholic Controversies in the bulletin) meets from 10:15-11:15 am on
Thursdays. We will begin with a review of the Councils of the
Church. Did you know that there have been 21 ecumenical (or
general) councils of the Church? Each council was called to
address some area of faith, usually a problem or a heresy. We'll begin discussing the various councils, what they
addressed, and the significance of the magisterium and the
teaching authority of the Church.
Knights of Columbus Shirt Order: The Knights of Columbus

for more volunteers to deliver Meals
on Wheels to our senior and disabled
neighbors. St. Mary’s is assigned to
deliver meals certain weeks throughout the year. Meals are delivered
starting at 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Each route has
about 8 to 12 stops and takes approximately 60 minutes to
complete. Whether you could help one day, or one week, we
need your assistance. Would you like to know more? Please
call Julie Kracht at 641-236-5306 with questions, or to be put
on our list of volunteers. Thank you for considering this important service to our community!

bottles. We cannot use vitamin or supplement bottles.
Thank you.
Light Weight One King is a
12 week Bible Study—
DVD program designed to
help members grow in relationship with Jesus Christ
and increased health
through weight-loss and
healthy eating. The program
is recommended by nurses
and doctors for weight loss & health, and chosen by Prevention magazine as a safe and healthy faith based diet. New research shows that church based meetings increase people’s
weight-loss success. There are no weigh-ins. Let Our Lord and
King help you break free from anything keeping you chained!
A One King orientation will be held on Sunday, December
28th at 4 PM in the REC. If you have any questions, please
call Rachel Porath at 641-990-0628. Hope to see you there!
Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ
present in the Holy Eucharist. It offers a time of quiet
and intimacy with our Lord. Join us from 5 to 6 pm
for all or part of our time in the sanctuary every
Wednesday.
