Volume LII Issue 25 December 17, 2014 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased! - Luke 2:14 I want to take a moment in this year-end Caller to simply say, “thank you.” We appreciate you all so much, Galilee people are truly special and it is a joy to minister alongside you. We have accomplished so much this year. Serve the City, SOAR Bags, 100’s of meals served, worship services that glorified Jesus and we’ve seen many; nearly 90 people, make decisions for Christ. You are all a special part of the legacy in Christ we are building at Galilee. I’m already getting excited for 2015; it is going to be a BIG year. Lord willing we will break ground on a new education wing that will allow us to bring in our adult classes from temporary classrooms and locate all of our children in one wing of the church. We are going to need you to help with this, both in prayer and financially. We begin 2015 in the best way possible, with a dedicated week of prayer and fasting, please participate alongside me. Again, we need all of us! Let’s continue to walk faithfully with the Lord, let’s stay on mission together, let’s not allow the evil one to infiltrate our midst. God bless you all as we advance the Gospel, make disciples and serve all! From Nick, Abbie, Gus, Bliss and Charlotte Merry Christmas! Monday, January 5 Sunday, January 11 Join us for a week long journey of prayer and fasting, Monday, January 5 through Sunday, January 11. What is fasting and why should we as a church participate in it? Fasting is abstaining from food for a specified amount of time to focus on prayer. Fasting brings us closer to God because it’s a choice, not a requirement. How do I fast/how long? That is a personal decision for you to make. It can be for the entire week, from sun up to sun down, or from a particular meal each day. Be mindful of your personal health as you make this decision. The idea isn’t to risk your health (a gift from God) but to draw closer to Him through prayer. We will all gather together to break our fast with communion in the multi-use chapel and with our pancake and sausage breakfast in our Life Center Sunday, January 11 during our Sunday School hour. (There will not be Sunday School that day). Look in your bulletins Sunday, December 28 and January 4 for more information. So many of us have held a Bible in our hands with red letters found within. Those red letters mark the words spoken by Jesus. Christianity has taken on many different paths and forms through the years but what would "our faith" look like if Christ followers lived out those red letters consistently? Over the first half of 2015 at Galilee Christian Church, we will explore nearly all the red letters of Jesus' teaching and learn how we can truly hear His words and abide by them. We will learn to "build our house on the rock" and abide in Chri s t’s teac hi ngs . Thi s new s eri es , Red Letter Christians, begins January 4, 2015. 2015 The Book of Revelation can be confusing. When you open its pages you are surrounded by a world filled with beasts, dragons, angels, demons and even a slain lamb. So how does anyone make sense of all these images and how are all these difficult passages to be handled? And why should we apply a book so shrouded in mystery to our everyday lives as followers of Jesus? In this new Wednesday night series at Galilee, let’s explore general themes, difficult passages and points of application in Revelation. We begin Wednesday, January 14 at 6:45 PM. From the Elders… At Galilee, our elders want to be accountable to every member. We want you to know we have recently considered and approved some very needed projects. Our goal is to periodically inform you with updates and information on these and future projects as we can. Projects recently approved were painting our lower wall sections in our Family Life Center. We have also approved painting our drive-through "Portico" ceiling at our Worship Center. We are in the process of replacing our "can" lighting in our Worship Center. The reasons are these lights were constantly burning out and underpowered and were impossible to adjust or aim. We are replacing 1000 watt bulbs with LED lighting that is much more energy efficient, cooler and brighter. We will also be able to use coloration in our lighting with more even coverage throughout our stage area and still be able to direct our lighting automatically anywhere. In the past, we have had to rent a 40 foot extension ladder and scissor lift and an individual (usually Don) had to go to the top of the worship center to replace the cans and bulbs. In order to add these new lights, licensed and qualified electricians did the needed rewiring. We requested three bids from vendors. One turned us down because our budget was too small, one promised a design but never presented a bid, and one met with us repeatedly; designed the system to our specific needs, and is providing us a "turn key" job. We expect to have all completed before Christmas Eve. Thanks go out to our Galilee family who approved the budgets for 2012, 2013, and 2014. Monies for our lighting project are not coming from our general account but from our Contingency Fund budget approved these last three years. God continually blesses us at Galilee and we thank Him.
