COMMODORE’S LAST SUPPER
Welcome to the holiday season at
your club. By the time you’re reading this article, my wife Paula and
her committee of talented volunteers will have decorated the
whole clubhouse. I urge you to
stop by and check out their
efforts. On October 25th Tony and
Denise Pellegrino co-chaired the
70’s Night Dance Party. It was well
attended and the food was prepared by Tiffiny and Karen – job
well done! Some of the outfits
were unbelievable. We’ve had a
lot of compliments about the night
– thanks!
The next day Cherie Harland
and Karen Vogel co-chaired the
Annual Children’s Halloween Party. What a lot of work and effort
goes into that function. They had a
great committee that worked
incredibly hard all day from early
in the morning till late in the afternoon. The “Vaz” has performed at
this function for years and does a
great job with the kids. Thank you
to the huge crew of volunteers
that help out, so our children and
grandchildren can have an enjoyable afternoon to celebrate Halloween.
The following week there was
another incredible feat accomplished – our annual Fall Dock Day.
Organized by Jeff Hetu and Louis
Misto – the day went smoothly –
even though Mother Nature wasn’t so cooperative. It was cold,
windy, and rainy, but that didn’t
stop the troops. So much work
gets completed that day – inside
and out – it’s unbelievable. It
wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t
for the volunteerism of well over
100 of our dedicated members; a
huge thanks A special thanks to
Junie Woycik and Frank Torre for
using the tractor to put all the
picnic tables away before dock
day. Also, I would like the membership to know how much we
appreciate the cooperation of all
of our boaters for moving their
boats out in a timely fashion,
thanks!
Shaun Tine held another very
competitive pool tournament on
November 8th. The pot luck supper
was great. Speedy Gonzalez kept
us entertained till well after the
tournament was over. Good time,
good job, and a good crowd.
On November 15th we enjoyed another ‘western steak fry’
co-chaired by Uncle Bill and Cheral
Armstrong. The committee did a
good job decorating the back
room. The function was a complete sell out and if you went away
hungry – I don’t understand how.
“Stella Tunes” kept the dance
floor full all evening. It was like
being in a “western town” without
leaving R.I. Great job – lots of fun
– thank you!
On November 12th we had a
general membership meeting.
Paul Read and Rick Traskos presented the finance report and the
Budget and Assessments for next
year. It was very informative and
well done. Thanks to the Finance
Committee.
The GM meeting continued
on November 16th – Election Sunday. The polls were open from
12:00 noon till 4:00 p.m. The results of the election were as follows:
Al Whipple – Commodore
Scott Howard – Vice Commodore
Shaun Tine – Rear Commodore
Tony Pellegrino—Treasurer
Bob Priolo – Board of Directors
Bob Kenahan – Board of Directors
Thank you to Sal Parise (PC)
who was our Election Sunday
Committee Chair. Together with
his helpful committee, he organized a very smooth running election process.
Also, I give a sincere thanks
to the successful candidates and
those members who did not win
an elected position. I encourage
them to stay involved and consider future elections.
Thank to PCs Alex Houston
and Dave Miguel and their fabulous kitchen crew for providing us
with delicious pizza pies all afternoon. Very well done!
Coming up on December 17
we will have the Children’s Christmas Party. Cherie Harland and
Stephanie D’Iorio are co-chairing
this huge event and always make
sure that our children have an
enjoyable day. I’ll comment on the
event in next month’s Current.
On December 13th we will
have our “Annual Egg Nog Party”.
Please make it a point to stop by
your club that evening. It is always
very well attended and it’s a great
opportunity to get together with
your fellow members before the
holiday season is over.
New Year’s Eve is being cochaired by Tony and Cheryl Spino.
They have a great menu planned
and I’m sure this function will sell
out very fast – so get your tickets
early. This year we will be going
back to a “formal night”. So suits,
ties, gowns, tuxes, etc. will be the
attire. Thank you.
Paula and I would like to wish
all of you and your families a very
happy and healthy holiday season.
Please make it a point to stop by
your beautiful “Yacht Club” and
say hello.
Till next month – see ya later,
bye!

ANNUAL EGG NOG PARTY—Saturday, December 13th
The WYC annual Egg Nog party is being held on Saturday, December 13th at 1900.(that’s 7:00 p.m. for you
landlubbers).
Once again we will follow the tradition of the Flag
Officers serving our own special “spiked” Egg Nog for
all to enjoy. For those who do not wish to have alcohol there will be non-alcoholic Egg Nog available. Also, as traditional, there will be lots of hors
d’oeuvres served throughout the evening.
Music will be provide by Straight Ahead, so bring
your dancing shoes.
This is one of the most popular functions of the
year and, weather permitting, is usually well attended. With the extended guest parking area now available there should be ample parking for everyone. Attire
is normally semi-formal but casual attire is also acceptable. However, jeans and other informal wear are
not appropriate for this function which will be utilizing
both the function hall and the lounge This is a house
function and so there is no cost to attend. Your dona-
tions to the raffles would however be most appreciated
and will be sold on site the night of this event.
As a reminder, because of the large turnout for
this event it is a “MEMBERS ONLY” affair. We just
don’t have the room for guests on this particular
night. This restriction does not apply to “significant
others” as they are certainly welcome. Please refrain
from bringing a casual friend, business associate or
other non-member guest on this evening.
Thank you all for your cooperation. We’re looking
forward to seeing you all at this event to celebrate the
Christmas Season.
Happy Holidays to all.
