From Marcella Flippin,
Academic Dean
All 10th and 11th graders who took the
PSAT in October 2014 will receive their
scores back in Bible class on Jan 22.
PSAT College and Career readiness
benchmarks have been established for
this test as an indicator for college
readiness. Students should meet or
exceed scores to be considered ”on
track” to be college ready.
For 11th graders: The benchmark in
critical reading is 45; in mathematics
47; and in writing 45; a composite of
142
For 10th graders: The benchmark in
critical reading is 42; in mathematics
44; and in writing 42; a composite of
133.
Ask your student for their scores and
have some conversations about their
progress and take advantage of the
many resources available through
College Board to work on weaknesses.
Game times: B JV 5:00pm;
G 6:30pm; B VAR 8:00pm
will be on Friday,
January 9, 2015. The Coffee is open to
all parents & grandparents. Meet other
families and hear the latest news from
Principal Niswonger, while enjoying
delicious homemade treats and
beverages. We gather in the teachers’
workroom behind the Office at 8:00am.
All are welcome…and encouraged to
attend! Bring your special morning treat
to share, if you like!

DONATIONS
& MATCHING GIFTS
At this writing, mid-December, year-end
donations were nearing $50,000…with
two weeks to go! Praise the Lord and
many thanks to those of you who so
generously supported this ministry in
2014!!!
Matching Gifts from Raytheon,
Northrup Grumman, Boeing and
Edison International have doubled
the gifts of our families… Many
employers will match your gifts to a
charitable institution. Double your gift
of $1,000 to $2,000!! You will find a list
of companies who “match gifts” in the
literature rack in the office. Or check
with your HR office today! This is a
great way to double, sometimes triple,
the benefit of your gift.
BCHS has an IRS 501(3)(c) non-profit
designation. Call Janine Ransom at
714-962-6617 ext. 25 or check with
your personnel office at work to see if
they have programs like this.
Thank you for your donations to the
benefit of this important, foundational
ministry!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PICTURE SUBMISSION IN SENIOR ADS
As you choose the pictures you would like to place in your student’s ad, please be
assured that we will do our absolute best to ensure the safety of the pictures you
entrust to us. We will take every precaution to protect your precious memories.
There is, however, always a possibility for human error. While misplacement of
photos is not the norm, it is possible. You may want to do one of the following,
especially for exceptionally rare, one-of-a-kind photos:
1) Go to a photography studio and get a duplicate. This is more costly, but you
would give us the duplicate and keep the original, because a studio’s
reproduction of a picture would be high quality.
2) Get a reproduced copy from the Kodak Picture Maker. These yellow boxes
are located in many stores. These machines produce copies very near the
original in quality and are satisfactory for submitting to the publishers.
3) Send your digital pictures in on a CD. You can arrange them yourself with the
text (Plan 2), or you can just have the pictures included and we’ll arrange them
(Plan 1). The pictures should be submitted as a JPEG file to ensure the best
quality reproduction. Any digital pictures submitted need to be at least 300 dpi
quality. Low resolution scanned pictures will result in low quality production.
DO NOT cut the photos! Leave them their original size. The staff will crop (without
cutting) the photo so that the important part shows in the picture. If you have a
specific request regarding cropping, just write us a note.
Please write the first and last name of your student on every photo you
submit. We will return them at the end of the school year.
Do not send more photos than what is allowed for your size ad!
Please choose your pictures carefully and only send the maximum number of
pictures allowed for the ad you purchased.
We look forward to working with you to provide your student with a lasting
memory. If you have any questions, please mail Mrs. Patrick at npatrick@bchs.net
Final payment, pictures, and message are due
no later than Thursday, January 15, 2015.
