Overview
New developments in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal (GI), pancreas, and liver disorders are
complex and ever changing, with new research, clinical trials, techniques, and treatments rapidly altering the
field. These advances present challenges for practitioners involved in managing patients with these disorders
who must stay abreast of this new information and their application in clinical practice.
Specialists in the field of gastroenterology will provide useful information and wisdom that comes from
varied experiences in treating GI, pancreas, and liver disorders. The latest clinical research findings and their
application to clinical practice will be discussed. Topics presented will highlight the latest diagnostic techniques,
management strategies, and research developments that impact the care of patients with GI, pancreas, and
liver disorders.
Armed with the information from this activity, gastroenterologists and primary care practitioners, providing
medical care for or co-managing patients with GI, pancreas, and liver disorders, can make timely diagnostic,
treatment and referral decisions in the context of patient choice and the resources within their communities.
In addition, participants will be able to prepare patients for what to expect from recommended tests,
consultations and recommended treatment plans.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Assess the latest evidence-based management for the care of patients with gastrointestinal, pancreas,
and liver diseases.
• Evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of therapeutic options for the management of gastrointestinal,
pancreas, and liver diseases.
• Review recently published literature and professional society guidelines pertaining to the evaluation and
treatment of gastrointestinal, pancreas, and liver diseases.
• Evaluate the latest clinical research findings for gastrointestinal, pancreas, and liver diseases
management and their application into clinical practice.
Target Audience
This educational activity will be of interest to gastroenterologists as well as primary care clinicians including
medical internists, family practice physicians, advanced practice nurses, and physician assistants involved in
the diagnosis, evaluation, management, and treatment of patients with gastrointestinal, pancreas, and liver
disorders.
Method of Participation
In order to meet the learning objectives and receive continuing education credits, participants are expected to
check in at the registration desk, attend the program and complete an online evaluation form at the conclusion
of the activity. A letter certifying attendance and credit verification will be emailed to participants upon
completion of the online evaluation survey.
Accreditation
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.75 AMA PRA
Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the activity.
Physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses may participate in this educational activity and earn a
letter of attendance as AAPA, AANP, and ANCC accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ through their reciprocity

the lecture slides will be made available on-line to registered attendees. In addition, internet access will
be available during the day of the activity so we encourage attendees to bring a laptop or tablet. Additional

Cancellation Fee/Refund
Parking
A full refund, less a $20 cancellation fee, will be
granted if notice is received up to the date of the
program. Refunds cannot be given for “no shows”
or cancellations received once the program has
started. Cancellations must be done online through
the registration portal.
Parking is available in the parking deck on Paterson
Street, located directly across from the Clinical
Academic Building. Parking is complimentary if you
present your parking voucher at the registration desk
for validation.
