Member FINRA, SIPC The Meeting Dr Jack Mills, DDS, gave a “Tenured Member Talk”, recounting first his early life in Wichita FallsTexas, where he graduated from high school in 1954, then attending Midwestern State University, before attending Baylor University Dental School in Dallas, where he met and married his wife in 1959; they have two kids and two grandkids. He volunteered for military service after which he served his residency at UCSF. In 1967, having chosen northern over southern California, he opened his Livermore dental office and joined our Rotary Club. At that time John Shirley was President, and it was he who pointed out to a meeting latecomer Dr Mills, that “we always make it on time to Rotary”. Jack enjoys Bob Cowan was called upon by skiing and sailing. Milly to comment on the recent victory of the football team of his alma mater Ohio State over second-best University of Oregon. Mony concluded his presentation with a description of life in Cambodian schools, and with his favorite quotation: “Better make a difference than make a dollar”. Phil Dean drew our attention to some Rotary history, associated with the Four-Way Test and the Code of Conduct. He reminded us of the official statements of the Object of Rotary, as written on handout cards at the front table every week, and suggested that our club should institute a new program, on Integrity and Ethics. This would include regular “Ethics Moment” at our meetings, a scholarship grant to a high school student, and an ethics award to a local businessman. The program would be overseen by an Ethics Committee. Phil will present his ideas to the Board.
