ANCIENT EGYPT IN GRADE 6
Students in Grade 6 were asked to build an
Egyptian Pyramid with specific dimensions,
interior designs and handmade artifacts. They
also wrote historical fiction stories about their
pyramid and its pharaoh/king/queen. They
researched the building of the pyramids,
religious beliefs, customs and traditions of the
Ancient Egyptians. Then they wrote a story
about the building of their pyramid and the life
and times of their rulers. They also presented
their project and shared a brief synopsis of their
story in front of their classmates.
The pyramids of the Class of 2021 are fabulous!!
Join us for a Benefit Baked Ziti Dinner for Madison Herzog

Elementary School. Madison is in 4th grade and is being treated for
a Stage 2 Wilms Tumor at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Please join us so we may raise funds to help her family with the cost of
co-pays, travel expenses, and food and lodging while in Burlington.
BOARD OF EDUCATION – Policy Committee
The Lake Placid Central School District is looking for an additional parent(s) to join our
Policy Committee. Policies provide the LPCSD School Board with a legal framework
through which it governs the district and carries out its mission. We seek a new
member's perspective to take a fresh look at the policies adopted for the Lake Placid
Central School District.
We invite you to join our quarterly evening meetings at 6:30 PM on the second
Thursday of January, April, June and October. Interested parents may contact Karen
Angelopoulos at 523-2475 x 3001 or lpcsdpolicy@gmail.com with any questions.
JOIN THE TEENS FOR JEANS MOVEMENT
Senior Joellen Quilla is collecting gently used blue jeans to be distributed
through Teens for Jeans to a nearby homeless shelter as part of her senior
project. Drop boxes are located at the Lake Placid High School Main
Office, the North Elba Town Hall, and at the Country Bear in Wilmington,
NY.
STAYING IN TOUCH WITH LP MS & HS TEACHERS
As the first semester of 2014/15 draws to a close, we wanted to remind you that your student’s
teachers are just a mouse click away. Our student data software program offers a Parent Portal
where you can see your students’ current grades and what assignments they have turned in –
and the ones that they haven’t. With your PowerSchool login, you can email your students’
teachers directly and register for emailed updates. Parent conferences may be arranged at any
time during the year by emailing, or calling Mrs. Connie Hammaker, High School Counselor,
and Mrs. Lynn Gosling, Middle School Counselor at 523-2474, or by calling or emailing the
teacher directly.
VISITING SCHOOL
For building safety and security reasons, please make sure that the Middle and High School
Main Office is your first stop when visiting school. From there we can help you in dropping off
a forgotten lunch, picking up homework assignments, or finding an office, as well as being
accounted for during a fire drill. Thank you.
The Lake Placid Middle School and High School News is emailed to all families who have requested email contact either through their PowerSchool
login, or by direct request. If you do not currently receive these weekly emails and would like to, please email sadams@lpcsd.org
