COLLECT FOR THE CONVERSION OF ST PAUL
Almighty God, who caused the light of the gospel to shine throughout the world
through the preaching of your servant Saint Paul: grant that we who celebrate his
wonderful conversion may follow him in bearing witness to your truth; through
Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of
the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
COLLECT FOR THE THIRD SUNDAY OF EPIPHANY
Almighty Father, whose Son revealed in signs and miracles the wonder of your
saving presence: renew your people with your heavenly grace, and in all our
weakness sustain us by your mighty power; through Jesus Christ your Son our
Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever. Amen.

For the World: We pray for peace and reconciliation in Syria, Afghanistan and
South Sudan; for all victims of Ebola and those working to fight the spread of the
disease; for the relief of cultural and religious tensions.
For the Anglican Communion: Archbishop Justin Welby; Long Island; the
Dioceses of Tampere (Evangelical Lutheran Church in Finland), Manchester,
their Bishops and people; the consecration of the new Bishop of Burnley and of
the first woman bishop, the Rev’d Libby Lane, as Bishop of Stockport on
Monday 26th January.
For the Diocese: Bishop Tim Dakin and Suffragan Bishops Jonathan and David;
the Parish of Jersey St Martin De Grouville and all their people.
For our local hospitals and surgeries under intense pressure.
For the Deanery: Clergy spouses & families; retired clergy; clergy widows and
widowers and their families.
Local needs: The Trinity Centre; for all students with examinations this term;
for St Bede’s School and their new Headteacher Sarah Duck.

ST BARTHOLOMEW: Please could volunteers fill in the new flower rota on
display behind the font in Church.
SPACE FOR PEACE: Choirs, schools and faith groups will gather to sing for
peace at Winchester Cathedral on Tuesday 27th January at 7.15pm.
Admission is free but there is a retiring collection.
SPACE IN THE CITY: On Wednesday 28th January at 12.30pm at the
United Church Canon Jeremy Davies continues his series entitled “Something
Understood”, addressing approaches to prayer through music.
MAGAZINE COLLATION: Volunteers are needed to help with collating the
parish magazine on Friday 30th January at 9.30am in the Parish Room.
BENEFICE MEETING: Cliff is holding an open meeting for all in the Benefice
on Saturday 31st January at 9.30am for 10.00am start at Hyde Parish Hall to
discuss future parish clusters within the Deanery. All are welcome.
ST LAWRENCE: ‘Going Out With Questions’ meets on the 1st Sunday of
the month (1st February) to explore questions about faith and life. We meet
after the morning service. Convenor: Angus Paddison.
COFFEE MORNING in ST LAWRENCE CHURCH: On the first Friday of
each month. Please come along to meet one another and members of the
Ministry Team on 6th February from 10.00am-11.30am.
ST LAWRENCE: All help is welcome at the annual Clean and Polish on
Saturday 7th February from 10.00am-12.00pm. Coffee will be provided.
A SERVICE OF PEACE, HEALING AND WHOLENESS will take place
on 8th February at 6.00pm at St Lawrence Church. All are welcome. See parish
magazine for details.
LENT HOME GROUPS: You are warmly invited to join a group, particularly
if you have not done so before. Please take a form from Church for the 6
sessions beginning on 22nd February. Please return forms by 15th February.

Communion will take the form of a Book Group, reading chapters from Esther
