Before you get started, it is always recommended that you
consult with your physician before beginning any exercise program. You
should be in good physical condition and be able to exercise. Next, you can
familiarize yourself with our exercise bikes, an elliptical trainer, a Nu-Step
recumbent cross trainer and a high quality rehabilitation treadmill and
weight lifting machines.
The weight lifting machines are designed to increase spinal stability and
core strength. Benefits include increased circulation, improved range of
motion and may also include increased bone mass. Use of this equipment
can strengthen the lumbar, abdominal, and oblique abdominal muscles.
Simple adjustments are made on each piece of equipment to fit the size,
ability and strength of the individual. The user is then seated comfortably to
perform a different motion on each machine. The resistance is operated by
a cam system to provide a smooth and steady resistance throughout the
motion making the exercise comfortable and safe.
The machines are located in the Exercise Room and have individual user
instructions. If you have questions about the exercise equipment, please
see Sue.

Wisconsin’s Silver Alert Program
The Silver Alert Program can assist in locating an individual with impaired cognitive abilities who has gone
missing. If a person with dementia becomes lost, the first step it to contact your local law enforcement
agency. They will determine if issuing a Silver Alert would be beneficial and if the situation meets the
requirements. The criteria are:





The missing person is 60 years of age or older;
The missing person is believed to have Alzheimer’s, dementia, or another permanent cognitive
impairment that poses a threat to the individual’s health and safety;
There is reasonable belief that the missing person’s disappearance is due to the individual’s impaired
cognitive condition;
The Silver Alert request is made within 72 hours of the individual’s disappearance;
There is sufficient information available to disseminate to the public that could assist in locating the
missing person.
The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin encourage families to keep a recent picture of their
loved one available. Also, keeping track of what clothing the person is wearing and any other identifying
information could be helpful information.
Anyone can receive Silver Alerts at no cost by registering at: www.wisconsincrimealert.gov. You can
receive alerts by fax, email or text message. Silver Alerts may be broadcast through television and radio,
digital billboards and more. For additional information see the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance website,
call 888-308-6251 toll free or the main office at 608-232-3400.
Confidentiality……what does that mean here at
the Center? Case Management services you receive
at the Center or at home are kept private between
you and the Case Manager. Topics discussed are
not shared with other Center participants or even

Friday, February 13 at 10:00 a.m. - Diamond Dragons Book Chat
The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg
This month’s book spans decades and generations. It’s a fun-loving story about an
Alabama woman today, and five women who worked in a Phillips 66 gas station in Pulaski,
Wisconsin, during the WWII years. Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just
married off her last daughter and is looking forward to relaxing with her husband. Then one day, quite
by accident, Sookie discovers a shocking secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and
suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her
future. Join library facilitator Jane Henze to discuss this charming blend of fiction and history.
Fourth Tuesday Forum: Grow Healthy, Happy Houseplants with Jim Scorgie, Master Gardener
