Reserving Parish Facilities
Please call Karen in the parish office.
SPRING CLEAN UP
Mark your calendars for March 21
Spring Clean up day. Join us as we
spruce up the grounds for Easter.
We’ll be weeding, raking and trimming so please bring tools if you
have them (otherwise they will be
provided). This is a great ministry to do with your
family and a wonderful way to meet new people.
We’ll work from 9:30 to noon so come anytime. Refreshments will be provided.
Would you like to stay up to date on parish happenings? Submit your email to
info@hfkparish.org and receive occasional email notifications of upcoming
parish events.
IRS TAX REFUND FRAUD UPDATE
The Archdiocese has an IRS Tax Refund Fraud letter posted
on their website http://www.seattlearchdiocese.org. Please
read the letter, and the Archdiocese reports that one of the
most important points that the IRS has stressed to us is the
best way to avoid being impacted by this scam is to file
your return as early as possible. This will help minimize
the likelihood that a criminal can file a false return in your
identity. Filing an extension early will not have the same effect; the return must be filed.
OPERATION RICE BOWL
Operation Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program. Just as we celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, we can
use Operation Rice Bowl as a way to “break bread” together
with family and loved ones. We engage in the traditional
practices of Lent and pray as a community, fast through making sacrifices, learn about the joys and challenges in the lives
of our brothers and sisters all around the world, and give concrete assistance to those most in need.
This year, join in the rich Lenten tradition of Operation Rice
Bowl, and put your faith into action by reaching out in solidarity with all members of our human family. We will have foldable cardboard Rice Bowl and Home Calendar Guide
(tucked inside the Rice Bowl) at the doors of the church
coming soon.
NEW BOOKKEEPER HIRED
Please join Fr. Nagel in welcoming Kathy Heideman as the new parish bookkeeper! Kathy has been on the Holy Family parish staff
since December 8th working as an administrative assistant and she
will begin her new role as bookkeeper on Monday, February 9,
2015. Kathy most recently worked as the supervisor of Patient Financial Services at Evergreen Healthcare.
While we are very happy to have Kathy on our staff, we are going to
miss our former bookkeeper, Debbie Walford, who accepted other
employment. It is a fond farewell; however, as Debbie’s efforts
have gone a long way in helping to manage a very active, vibrant
parish! But, she is not going far—her new office is in Bellevue, and
she will be on site to help Kathy transition into the position.
SUPPORT OUR ADVERTISERS
Have you looked at the back of the bulletin lately? It is because of the generosity
of our advertisers that this bulletin is
printed by Catholic Printery at no cost the
parish. Please patronize these advertisers
when you can and tell them you saw their
ad in our bulletin! Also, please consider
advertising your business on our bulletin. Call 1-800-867

Please join us for Catholic Advocacy Day in Olympia on March
26th! Our theme is Proclaim Justice & Life for All.
Our time together will include:
 Briefings on legislative issues and stories of how advocacy is making a difference
 Mass at St. Michael’s in Olympia
 Appointments with legislators
In order to plan effectively (make legislative appointments and reserve buses) we
need to hear as soon as possible but no later than March 5th if you will be attending
Catholic Advocacy Day. Go to IPJC.org to register online or call 206.223.1138 to
register by phone. You can also contact Andrea in the parish office.
The purpose of Catholic Advocacy Day is to meet with our legislators to advocate for
people who are poor and vulnerable based on Catholic Teaching. The priority issues
can change depending on the current legislative agenda. The areas we will address
may include 1) economic justice, 2) housing, 3) access to health care, 4) child welfare, 5) life issues, 6) environment and 7) criminal justice.
We schedule over 110 appointments with legislators. Everyone from the same district
will meet together with your legislators. Even if you do not feel comfortable about
speaking on an issue, your presence will be a witness of your concern and commitment.
Sign up after Masses the weekends of Feb. 14/15 and
Feb. 21/22 or contact Andrea in the parish office . We
will have a bus leaving from Holy Family at 7:00 am.
