Old Business - Jim is working on the chapter taxes. We discussed various expenses and car show opportunities. Jim has emailed Whitaker Buick/GMC in Forest Lake to pursue a possible car show at their location. Route 65 Car Show-date has been set: April 25th, we will be including motorcyles this year. POCI is investigation the possibility of a convention in the Wisconsin Dells area (more info at our next meeting). Some people have expressed an interest in going to the Pontiac Oakland Museum and Resource Center in Pontiac IL - there are some good car shows coming up. For example on September 19-20 there is a GTOAA Regional “All Pontiac Cruise and Show” that we may want to consider caravaning to. Submitted by Melissa Miller for: Steve “Mudbird” Weese Tomahawk Chapter Secretary Ready for swappin? Page 6 ‘72 LeMans GT We purchased our 1972 LeMans GT from New Mexico off of an ad we found on carsonline.com in January 2013. We are muscle car fans and had been looking for an A-body car. After an extensive search, we found this beauty -- in our budget -- and oh what a beauty she is. The LeMans GT was a very rare, yet affordable, insurance beater car in its day. It was produced to rival the Heavy Chevy and Cutlass Ram-Rod cars. Our particular GT was ordered with clear glass, ivory interior, factory tach, a 350 3-speed stick, manual steering, endura front, and power disc brakes. It was a one-family car that served the original owner and then his son’s family well. Over the years, the car went thru many changes and remained a treasured member of their family. As the years went by, the car was worn down and eventually parked. Then, father and son did a restoration in the 90s changing its original Quetzal Gold to Viper Red, adding a ’66 389 bored to a 400 with a slight cam backed by a Tremec TKO 500 5-speed transmission, new interior, and full Hochkiss suspension. This car loves the road! We took delivery of this baby during a January snowstorm. That spring, we added US Mag wheels and Mickey Thompson tires, front spoiler and some chrome trim. This summer, we plan to also add the Pontiac wing (as I love wings) and hood tach. We added custom plates that say, “ITSA GT” because so many admirers say “Nice Goat!” That’s okay though, we love the compliments! We have several other muscle cars made by the General, but our GT is a very special car and we love it. Denny and Theresa Peterson St. Francis, MN PROTECT YOUR DREAMS FOR LESS THAN YOU THINK.
