Each week we are
publishing a differBaptist Faith
ent section from The
and Message
Baptist Faith and Message, which covers the
basics of what Baptists
believe. Free copies
of The Baptist Faith and
Message are available
in the church office. You can also find the complete text on
the Southern Baptist Convention website:
www.sbc.net/bfm2000/bfm2000.asp.
Section IIc: God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through
illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts
Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of
judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every
believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian
character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts
by which they serve God through His church. He seals the
believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in
the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship,
evangelism, and service.
Military Box Project
On Thursday, March 12 First Baptist Church will pack and
send care packages to men and women in the military
stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Here are ways to be
involved:
• Provide names and addresses of men and women who
are serving. Please ask family, friends, coworkers and neighbors for names. It does not have to be a First Baptist member. Send info to: Gloria Oglesby - bamaglo@comcast.net
or 4150 Midway Lane, Tuscaloosa, AL 35406.
• Purchase supplies for the project. The list of recommended items is in the church office and online:
www.firsttuscaloosa.org/militaryboxitems15.pdf. Donations may be placed in the bins found in the Children’s Center lobby, Guest Services, the Fellowship Hall entrance, and
the 23rd Avenue entrance.
• Donate funds to help pay for the postage to mail the
boxes, which is the largest expense.
• Help pack boxes on Thursday, March 12 at 10 a.m. in the
Fellowship Hall.
• Pray for the project to be successful and for God to be
glorified as we support our troops. Pray for those serving
and for their families.
First Servant Weekly
The number 721 is significant to First Baptist Church because
it is the number in our street address: 721 Greensboro Avenue. These church buildings are where we gather to worship,
fellowship, disciple, evangelize and minister. May we keep
our facilities updated and relevant so that we will continue
to have useful space to equip our members to go out as
disciples of Christ to our community and beyond. Look for
information about The 721 Project in the days ahead.
