Diocesan: Second Collection for Accord: €2,200 Congratulations! Congratulations to the children of Holy Trinity National School, St. Mary’s National School, and the Church of Ireland National School who celebrated their Confirmation on Friday 13th of February in St. Mary’s Church. The celebrant was the Very Rev Kieran McDermott who was assisted by the Very Rev Andrew O’Sullivan. The Rite of Confirmation states that by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. Fast from illness; Feast on the healing power of God. Fast from words that pollute; Feast on speech that purifies; Fast from discontent; Feast on gratitude. Fast from anger; Feast on patience. Fast from pessimism; Feast on optimism. Fast from negatives; Feast on alternatives. Fast from bitterness; Feast on forgiveness. Fast from self concern; Feast on compassion. Fast from gossip; Feast on purposeful silence. Fast from problems that overwhelm; Feast on prayer that sustains. Fast from worry; Feast on faith. William Arthur Ward Lenten Masses (Monday-Friday) St. Mary’s 7.15am & 10.00am Our Lenten Journey – Spiritual Menu Lent is an ideal time to think of a “reboot” of our faith. Traditionally, parishes and schools have supported the Trócaire Lenten Campaign – which combines the three elements of Lent – prayer, fasting and alms in a thoughtful and interactive way. This year, the focus of the Trócaire Campaign is on climate change and the devastating impact it has on one community in Sebeya, Northern Ethiopia. Each Thursday of Lent, a different ministry group in the parish will host a “ Prayer, Soup and Roll” in aid of Trócaire. All Welcome. Time & Venue: 12 noon St Mary’s Church, followed by soup & roll in Parish Room. In addition, our “Spiritual Menu” offers an extra mass each morning at 7.15am in St Mary’s, Sandyford. Prayer: For Lent, if you have not already, do consider linking in to some of the existing prayerful practices in the parish: – Scripture Reflection every Monday after 10am Mass; Youth 2000 on Monday evenings 8.00 – 9.00 pm; Tuesdays Adoration, 10.30 am – concluding with a Guided Holy Hour 8.00 to 9.00pm. Our thanks to the Adoration Group who hosted last week’s soup and roll. EASTER DRAMA AND MUSIC CAMP MONDAY 30TH MARCH TO 1ST APRIL in Balally Parish Centre.
