Th 5th Second Sunday of Lent Year B 1st March 2015 Our Mission: We follow the words of our patron, St John Vianney, who said “He is here”. We recognise Christ is in the Word, the Eucharist, and in us, His people with a special reverence for Him in the poor and marginalised. We are called to make Christ present through our prayer and charity. We seek to grow in our spiritual lives and create a community where everyone is welcome; the young and old, together to experience the loving presence of God. We believe He is here amongst us and we joyfully go out to make Him present to all. St John Vianney's, Manly & St Jude's, Gumdale Dear Friends, As Lent continues we hear the disciples say the above words, “it is wonderful for us to be here.” They are the words we too can say, as we contemplated the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist at every Mass. As we see the Host raised and the Chalice lifted we say “My Lord and My God.” At St John Vianney Parish, Manly, beginning on Friday the 20th March at 6:00pm we begin the sacred 40 hours of devotion of Eucharistic Adoration. Please consider spending one hour over the weekend in silent prayer before Jesus. Like His disciples in today’s Gospel, the Lord takes us aside, to be alone with Him and in that silent hour of love, we too can be transfigured. We will bask in the light of His Real Presence and also feel the same response before His Glory in the Eucharist “Lord it is wonderful for us to be here.” I can promise all who will sacrifice an hour of their weekend from Friday night until Sunday morning at 9:00am that they will encounter a response to their prayer and enjoy the peace and grace only Jesus can give to those who heed his call at Gethsemane “Will you not watch one hour with me.” Again Jesus reminds us “Where your treasure is, there is your heart.” Each moment you spend in His Eucharistic Presence will increase His divine life within you and deepen your personal relationship and friendship with Him…..”Whoever remains in me and I in him shall bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) Each hour spent with Jesus will deepen His divine peace in your heart “Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will give you rest…cast all your anxieties upon the one who cares for you….”My peace is my gift to you.” (Mt 11:28, Pt 5:7, Jn 14:17) Just as you can’t be exposed to the sun without receiving its rays, neither can you come to Jesus, exposed in the Blessed Sacrament without receiving the divine rays of His grace, His love, His peace.” Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei. Please place your name on our parish rosters for Adoration. God Love You Fr Frank What’s happening this week ? Your servant, Lord, your servant am I; you have loosened my bonds. A thanksgiving sacrifice I make: I will call on the Lord's name. R. For those who cannot hear God’s word and be obedient to it. Lord hear us. Lord hear our prayer. My vows to the Lord I will fulfil before all his people, in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem. R. For all of us to keep our Lenten penance as a way of being obedient to God. Lord hear us. Lord hear our prayer.
