DID YOU KNOW?
This event in the life of Jesus is known as the Transfiguration. It is
traditionally associated with Mt Tabor near Nazareth in Galilee.
The words of the voice from the cloud echo the words from heaven at
Jesus’ Baptism. “You are my Son, the beloved, my favour rests on
you” (Mark 1:11)
The three disciples who witness Jesus’ glory in this episode are the
same three who will witness his agony on the Mount of Olives on the
night before his death.
Jesus is joined by Elijah and Moses in this episode. They represent the
Prophets and the Law, major sections of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Second Sunday of
Lent Year B
1st March, 2015.
Like Abraham, and
later, Peter, James
and John, we are
called to leave everything behind, and
climb the mountain,
where God will
speak to our hearts.
In the midst of our
everyday lives, we
can get bogged
down, even with
good things. When
we let God speak to
our hearts, we will
find inner peace and
strength for our own
journey, even when
it involves
suffering.
From The Pastor,
Greetings one and all as we journey into our 2015 Lenten season. This
Sunday, as we remember this is a penitential season, we will ask our
children in the parish in our reconciliation programme to commit
themselves fully, that our God is a God who offers a loving forgiving
grace. We will also ask their parents and all our believing community
to pray and support them. The whole programme cumulates in their
1st Reconciliation on 19th March.
Let us not forget our own penitential journey. Every Saturday we offer
the 1st Rite of Reconciliation; 4.30-4.45pm, unfortunately in our works
sacristy while our Blessed Sacrament Chapel is out of action.
Our Lenten 2nd Rite of Reconciliation will take place on Tuesday 24th
March at 7pm-place this in your diaries.

Good News Thank you for your prayers!
We are now down to needing one Catechist. There are nine new kindergarten
students at Sutherland who are starting
their 1st year at school and we are desperate to not let them miss out on scripture. The lesson is on a Thursday, starts
at 1.50pm and finishes at 2.20pm. We
train and support our volunteers and you
can still go on holidays! Please consider this. We now have the calendar for
the volunteer supervisors. Please fill in
your preferred dates. Lots of dates still
left blank. Thanks Bertha
