Get to Know the Department Chair of Our Guidance Department, Ms. Hollingsworth! Here at Tampa Bay Tech, we are very lucky to have sever‐
al truly inspira onal and dedicated Counselors. This month we would like to help you get to know one in par‐
cular – Ms. Shelly Hollingsworth. She actually grew up in Pi sburg and moved to Tampa to a end college at the University of Tampa where she majored in Psychology. She was very involved in college life; she was President of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, editor of the yearbook, and class president in both her junior and senior years. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Counselor Educa on from the University of South Florida. Although she has been here at TBT since 1999, Ms. Hol‐
lingsworth has had an exci ng and varied career. For sev‐
eral years, she worked for a publishing company that pub‐
lished yearbooks, and even taught yearbook staffs in high schools throughout the area. Once she decided that she would prefer to stay in the same school all day, she began applying for teaching posi ons. Her first teaching job was at Clearwater Central Catholic High School, and it was also there that she accepted her first Counseling posi on. Other schools where she has served as a Counselor include Sligh Middle School, Robinson High School, and Blake High School. Outside of her busy career, Ms. Hollingsworth enjoys cooking and baking. She is ac ve in greyhound rescue and the American Cancer Society. When asked if she had any advice for our students here at TBT, she said, “Set meaningful goals and share them with someone who can help hold you accountable. Remember, eve‐
rything you do in every class every day COUNTS.” Ms. Hollingsworth’s office is located in the Guidance Office, which is located just behind the Main Office. Titan Up! 2 Page 3 Titan Up!
