Paws for Thought (follow us on Twitter @Anam_and_Jerry):
I want you to think seriously about some things for this third week of
Lent. Most peoples brains are “frying”!
We are bombarded from all quarters with noise. TV or radio are permanently on, there is the business in our everyday world. So my question for you is.
Where do you find space to tell your story? What rituals do you have for easing
your soul? How and when do you grieve? There are as man things to grieve
about as there are people. I remember Bishop John Crowley asking us priests if
we has spent time grieving our celibacy? Sometimes these are very private and
personal, but we do need both to provide the space and find the space where we
can be at home.
Some people have nowhere to go and even if they do they don’t know if
they will be able to go through with it. That is one of the reasons we need rituals—something we can do to express our pain and our deep feelings.
So my question again is where do you find space to tell your story? I notice
it has a mention on the BBC news this evening as well, in reference to parents of
an autistic child?
God bless, Anam & Jerry
JOURNEY IN FAITH: Wednesdays at 7.00 —8.30
SCHOOL NEWS:
EAST BARNBY: The Year 5 and 6 children will be heading off to East Barnby for their outward bound
adventure on Monday 16th March with myself and Mrs Hopkins. I am sure they are all well prepared and will
have a great time. Mrs Tulloch will be covering the Year 4 class for that week.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUB More good news! Following the successful launch of our Breakfast Club in
January, we will be able to start offering after school care after Easter from Tuesday 14th April. The club will
run after school until 5:30pm. More details to follow soon.
NURSERY I am pleased to be able to announce that our Nursery plans have been approved and therefore
we will have a school Nursery Class from September. Children are able to join the Nursery from the term
following their third birthday and are entitled to 15 funded hours each week. For more information and an
application form please contact Mrs Corrigan in the school office.
CHOIR PRACTICE: WEDNESDAY 3PM. Please note the time. Anyone who would
like to join with the choir at Easter, but who cannot make the afternoon rehearsals, please
contact Margaret Rush after Mass, or on 01845 522 382.
100 Club: Its now time to renew your subscription for the 100 club. I hope I can
give you a breakdown of what the parish received next week. Thankyou for your help.
Easter Lilies: There are envelopes at the back of church, if you want to make a donation towards Lilies for Easter.
Richard Akers died recently. He leaves a wife, Una and we extend our sympathy to her and
her family. May he now rest in peace. His requiem is on Wed at 11.30. No 9.30 Mass.
Stations followed by hunger lunch immediately after Mass
Jesus probably would not have a problem with us using the back of church for selling papers or raising funds. At the end of the day it isn’t buildings of worship in
themselves that are of the greater importance, but what lies in our hearts and in
our intentions. Our bodies are the real temples. Jesus challenged impurity at its
roots, and the root of all impurity is wherever we have a thought or an idea that
lacks integrity or smacks of hypocrisy.
