Jerry MARRIAGE We require six months notice. Moring Prayer 15 Mins before Mass on weekdays Paws for Thought! I just had a call from a lady whose father has just died—so we think about parting—death is the big parting ! Fr Daniel O’Leary in The Tablet. puts it this way: He says: “There is a memory that continually contracts my heart. It is of the morning that my dying brother Joseph, who suffered from Down’s syndrome and renal dysfunction, left home for the last time, on his way to the Regional Hospital in Cork. I was standing at the front door of our house. Unable to ask a question, or understand what was happening to him, he looked out of the back window of the car as it left the yard. His little, lonesome, tearful face was full of confusion and fear, sensing yet more suffering for his poor bruised body, yet trying to trust those who loved him with all their hearts. Joseph returned a few days later to be waked at home.” At the moment of parting, we are full of confusion and fear and we remember the little faces at ‘the back window of the car ‘ and all they symbolize for us in our memories—”they contract our hearts”. Parting is a strange thing for us to experience and we deal with it in all kinds of ways. Some walk away broken hearted and never look back or they would never walk away. Others linger drawing the last moment to its close. Others just cry for months and years. We are all different and there is no perfect way to part .Our hearts are broken and broken hearts do strange things! Jesus, on his parting was full of reassurance to those he left behind ‘I am with you always’, he says. God bless, Anam & Jerry PARISH FAMILY JOURNEY IN FAITH: If anyone has a desire to know more about the Catholic Faith, please give me your name and we’ll get together!
