Ken LaMarca, unopposed candidate for the February 2015 Board election, was appointed by the Board to fill Dave’s position until the election. Committee Reports Architectural Committee, Chair Pat Marietta The home on Snook Court where the carport is being enclosed has been turned over to the Board of Directors. Bob Lyttle stated that this case is now with Oldsmar as a permit request was rejected. The case of a home on Dolphin has also been turned over to the Board. The Architectural Committee needs an additional member. Compliance Committee, Chair Ken LaMarca – There were four violations, three of which had owners present. Three violations were concerning weeds. These have been resolved. The fourth violation was issued because of construction clutter; they will be given a few weeks to clean it up. Garden Club, Chair Sue Fairbanks – Sue stated that the membership is down to two; more members are needed. The Board of Directors has asked that the Garden Club be put back on the GAVA website. Legal Report, Chair Bob Lyttle – Two evictions are in process. Neighborhood Watch – The pool lights are now on until 11:30 pm. Bob Lyttle commended the committee on the meeting last week. Last week when there was a fugitive loose in the area of Brooker Creek Park, members of the committee warned GAV residents who were outside to return to their homes. Orientation Committee, Chair Ginny Johnson – Thirteen new residents have been interviewed so far in January. Ginny requests that if a neighbor sells a home and someone moves in within a few days to let Ginny know. The “Houses for Sale/Rent” web page of the website will have a reminder added that rentals must be for more than one month. Ponds – The ponds are in the best condition ever. Manager’s Report, Ameritech – The Manager has issued 17 Friendly Reminders, 3 Delinquency Letters, and 27 Delinquencies. President’s Report, President Bob Lyttle – On February 24 at 7:30 pm, there will be a vote to approve the 2015-2016 budget. A QUORUM OF 180 IS NEEDED TO VOTE ON THE 2015-2016 BUDGET. Bob urges residents that will not attend the vote to send their proxies so a quorum can be met. The Hazardous Materials unit will be here on Thursday, March 25. Shuffleboard, Bob Lyttle – There is concerns about a high step. The Board is working toward a solution. Old Business A/V Equipment – The Board is considering this. Kitchen, Phase I – Completed within budget. The budget was $30,000. Final expenditures totaled $29,276. Renters Applications – Will be on the website. Trail Three dog stations will be installed. The southern sidewalk (trail to fence line) will be extended to the gate. [CONTINUED] Page 8 - March 2015 Gull Aire Village Highlights of the Board of Directors Meeting, [CONTINUED] New Business Pool Use – Some residents are considering extending pool exercise classes from three days a week (M, W, F) to five days a week. At present, some residents exercise in the pool as individuals on Tuesday and Thursday. There is concern that formal classes being held every week day would conflict with the use by individuals. The Board will research this. Election – There will be no election for two Board of Director positions because only two candidates ran. Both candidates are automatically considered to be elected by acclaim. Budget Approval for 2015-2016 – There is a legal requirement of 180 voters for a quorum. These 180 voters can include proxies. If a resident will not be attending the meeting, it is requested that the resident send a proxy so a quorum can be established. IF A QUORUM IS NOT MET, THE NEW BUDGET CANNOT BE APPROVED AND NO MONIES CAN BE SPENT FROM THE BUDGET. Pest Control Service The Board approved a contract with Pestguard Commercial Services (PCS) for the GAVA common grounds. PCS will make a proposal to the residents of Gull Aire Village concerning individual pest control services. A summary of the offer is that if at least 100 homes sign up, each home will be charged $50/year for pest control services outside and inside a home. If pests return to a home during the year, PCS will spray inside again at no charge. Details of the proposal will be offered at the meeting, which is not yet scheduled. Clubhouse Chairs – This is under review by the Board. Roof – There have been complaints about the look of the Clubhouse roof. This is under review by the Board. History of Gull Aire Village – Ken Sidorewich has finished his book, The History of Gull Aire Village. This incredible effort was lauded by the Board and all present. Ken documented the founding and the early years with records and pictures. He also discovered 4 of the plaques given to the original 20 resident starting in 1972. Ken is looking for financial backing for the book’s publication. The Board is considering establishing a display case for the book, pictures, and the plaques. Koffee Klatch – On February 21, three candidates for Oldsmar City Council will speak. Handicapped Parking – The Board issued a reminder that ALL MOTORIZED VEHICLES MUST HAVE A HANDICAPPED PLACARD TO PARK IN A HANDICAPPED PARKING SPOT. A sticker issued by Oldsmar or by Gull Aire is not sufficient. Gull Aire Village March 2015 - Page 9 Gull Aire Village Page 10 - March 2015 727-330-7821 Gull Aire Village March 2015 - Page 11 ST.
