Tickets and fares
Public transport on the Sunshine Coast is an
affordable and sustainable way to travel. Residents
and visitors are encouraged to use public transport
for work, education, recreation and social travel.
Bus tips
How to buy a go card or ticket for TransLink services
The Maleny-Landsborough-Beerwah and the
Hinterland Connect services are operated by
Glasshouse Country Coaches.
For the timetable, visit www.glasshousecoaches.com.au
Sunshine Coast Airport
There are shuttle services, car rentals and taxis
available to and from the airport. You can also take
Sunbus Route 622 from the terminal.
Visit www.sunshinecoastairport.com.au
Trains
• Raise your arm to hail the bus.
• Purchase or top up your go card, or have the
correct fare ready.
• Give way to passengers exiting the bus.
• As you board, touch your go card to the card
reader, show your pre-purchased paper ticket or
buy a ticket from the driver.
• Bikes (other than fold up bikes) are not permitted
on-board buses.
• After boarding, move down the aisle. Hold on to a
safety handle or barrier when standing.
• Offer your seat to people who require assistance:
mothers with prams, the elderly, and those with
mobility aids and disabilities.
Daily trains run to and from the Sunshine Coast.
Only some services go to Nambour, and some use a
Railbus from Caboolture, so check your timetable at
translink.com.au or call 13 12 30.
• Ring the ‘stop’ bell at least 100m before your stop.
If you’re unsure where to get off, ask the driver
when you board.
Plan your journey online or go mobile
Large items on trains
Use the TransLink journey planner at translink.com.au
for a quick and easy way to plan your trip.
You can take a bike on trains on weekends and public
holidays only. Bikes are not permitted during peak
hours Monday to Friday. Fold-up bikes are permitted
on trains; restrictions apply. Contact TransLink before
travelling with a bike. Surfboards, golf bags and other
large items are permitted on trains as long as they do
not inconvenience other passengers or pose a safety
hazard.
TransLink’s mobile site helps you plan your journey
from anywhere.
Excludes Flexilink and Council Link.
For further information visit translink.com.au or call
13 12 30 at any time.
Get a go card and save!
go card is at least 30 per cent
cheaper than a single paper ticket.
It lets you travel seamlessly on
all TransLink bus, train, ferry and tram
services. You can register a card to protect your
balance if it is lost or stolen.
You can also buy go cards online or from selected
major bus interchanges and train stations.
Single paper tickets can be bought at train stations or
on board the bus.
If you don’t have a pre-purchased ticket, have
your fare (and concession card if you’re buying
a concession ticket) ready for the driver or station
attendant. You can only pay with cash on buses and
the driver may not have change for larger notes.
SEEQ card for visitors
SEEQ card is TransLink’s travel card for visitors
to South East Queensland. It allows you to travel
on three or five consecutive days on all TransLink
services and includes two journeys on Airtrain
services. This card comes with offers and discounts
with participating businesses.
For more information contact TransLink.
• Touch your go card to the card reader as you exit.
Only single paper tickets are available on the
Hinterland Connect service.
For the Maleny-Landsborough-Beerwah service, there
are a number of qconnect ticket options:
• Single: one-way includes transfers within 2 hours
on qconnect services.
• Daily: unlimited travel within the zones purchased
until the last service scheduled on the day of
issue, valid on all qconnect services.
• Weekly: unlimited travel within the zones
purchased for one week (seven consecutive
days) from the date of issue, valid on all qconnect
services.
Real-time info
You can travel on TransLink services with a go card,
SEEQ card or single paper ticket. Your go card can
be topped up and will automatically calculate the
correct fare including transfers, off-peak travel and
frequent user discounts.
• At the station, touch your go card to the card
reader, show your pre-purchased ticket to the
station master or ticket officer if requested, or buy
a ticket.
If you are visiting the region and no longer need
your go card, you can return it to selected go card
retailers at the end of your stay to receive a refund of
any remaining credit and your original deposit.
Real-time public transport information is available
now on the Sunshine Coast.
• Wait behind the yellow line at all times.
For a full list of retailers visit translink.com.au or call
13 12 30.
When using a go card you can transfer up to three
times across all zones. If you’re using a combination
of buses or trains, touch on and off at each trip. If
you change from one train to another train without
leaving the station there is no need to touch off and
then back on again. Simply touch off when you arrive
at your destination.
• Always offer your seat to people who require
assistance: mothers with prams, the elderly, and
those with mobility aids and disabilities.
• Touch your go card to the card reader as you
leave the station or show your paper ticket.
There is a one hour limit between transfers and you
have six hours to complete your journey. When using
a paper ticket you can transfer as often as you like
but you must start your final trip before the expiry
time printed on your ticket. Return journeys are not
included as a transfer. These rules don’t apply to
SEEQ cards.
Taxi tips
For rules on using go cards or more advice on
transfers contact TransLink on 13 12 30.
• You can also book a taxi by phone or online.
Accessible services
Most buses on the Sunshine Coast allow easy access
for the elderly and people with prams or mobility
difficulties.
For wheelchair accessible service enquires contact
Sunbus on 07 5450 7888.
Not all stations have high platforms. If you require
a portable ramp or assistance from guards when
disembarking a train please wait at the assisted
boarding point near the guard’s cabin when the train
stops.
Accessible taxis are available for people in
wheelchairs and scooters. Restrictions apply to the
size of some mobility aids.
• Hail a taxi at a designated taxi rank or stand on
the footpath and raise your arm to signal.
• A taxi is available if the light on top is on.
• Be mindful of traffic conditions. Taxis will not stop
in dangerous locations.
Please note: On weekends and holidays, especially busy times
including New Year’s Eve, taxis can be very busy. Ensure you plan
ahead, make a booking and allow time to wait.

Fare zones
TransLink operates services across 23 zones. Fares
are calculated at either adult or concession rates and
are based on the number of zones travelled during
your journey.
The following formula can be used to calculate the
number of zones being crossed:
Highest zone number – lowest zone number + 1
= Total number zones travelled.
TransLink zones are shown on the map overleaf.
You can use the journey planner available at
translink.com.au to calculate the fare for a specific
journey. For qconnect fare zones, visit
www.qconnect.qld.gov.au
Taxi services operate 24 hours a day seven days a
week. Rank marshals and guards are provided at two
