UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 100 Peachblossom Road Easton, Maryland 21601 410-822-0001 410-822-0002 fax www.stmarkseaston.org The Vision of St. Mark’s United Methodist church is to inspire people of all ages, through acts of love and service, to know Jesus Christ. 4th Sunday of Lent … …… … … ..9:30 Worship for March 15, 2015 Music To Prepare Our Hearts WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS OPENING SONGS Welcome Let’s walk together for a while and ask where we begin To build a world where love can grow And hope can enter in, to be the hands of healing And to plant the seed of peace, singing Refrain: welcome, welcome to this place. You’re invited to come and know God’s grace. All are welcome the love of God to share ‘cause all of us are welcome here; all are welcome in this place. Let’s talk together of a time when we will share a feast, Where pride and power kneel to serve The lonely and the least, and joy will set the table As we join our hands to pray, singing Refrain. Let’s dream together of the day when earth and heaven are one, A city built of love and light, The new Jerusalem, where our mourning turns to dancing, Every creature lifts its voice, crying Refrain. Come to the Water There’s a war going on just across the street, There’s a rage that’s burning to an angry beat. I can feel the thirst but there’s no relief. We need a river. There’s a sound in the distance like a thunder cloud, We’re waiting for the rain while the sun beats down. Can you feel it rising from the underground? We need a river. Oh, let justice roll like rivers. Oh, let mercy flow with love, love. Refrain: Come to the water, come to the water of life. It will never run dry. Come to the water, run to the water of life. It will never run dry. There’s a cry from the child in the factory, There’s a prayer for the prisoners of poverty. Save us from the greed and the apathy. We need a river. There’s a hope like a flood running down our street, We’re an army of peacemakers on our feet. Take us to the place love and mercy meet. There is a river. Oh, let justice roll like rivers. Oh, let mercy flow with love, love. Refrain. OPENING PRAYER MEET & GREET YOUR NEIGHBORS JOYS & CONCERNS THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. SONG OF PRAYER Christ Has Broken Down the Wall Christ has broken down the wall, Christ has broken down the wall. Let us join our hearts as one, Christ has broken down the wall. We’re accepted as we are, We’re accepted as we are. Through God’s love all is reconciled, We’re accepted as we are. Cast aside your doubts and fears, Cast aside your doubts and fears. Peace and love, freely offered here; Cast aside your doubts and fears. We will tear down the walls! We will tear down every wall! God has called us, one and all; Christ has broken down the wall! I am surrounded by some people who want me to be more than I am, and others who want me to be less. What is worse, I have those same expectations of others. Sometimes that makes it difficult for me to get my head and my heart moving in the same direction. If it is possible, let that cup pass from me, but if not … Amen. WELCOME TO ST. MARK’S! THANK YOU FROM TIS to all the ST Mark's homeless shelter volunteers who covered the shifts & the dinners over the last two weeks at Easton's Promise. The weather meant we needed to keep the shelter open all day, every day, & St Mark's volunteers made that happen. I want to say a big "THANK YOU" myself to all of you who served, who donated financially, & who prayed for the homeless & the shelter program. There is a legal challenge from some neighbors against the shelter being at that location, & that case will be heard in circuit court on March 13th. Please be in prayer for God's will to be done in the judge's decision concerning whether the shelter will be able to remain open on a continuing basis. There is joy in serving & joy in prayer, Barbara Friedman HELP WANTED Since October either Bill Gunther or Jim & Sheila Scott have been picking up the left over bread & pastries from Panera Bread each Saturday night between 9 & 9:30 PM & taking it to our church kitchen. Then on Sunday mornings around 7am, Herby & Della Andrew re-package the food to get to different groups/people later that morning or early Monday. We need some help with the Saturday night pick ups.
