#3—Sunday School
CHILDREN—The first Sunday of each month we stress the lesson.
On the second Sunday we review the lesson and complete a craft
related to the lesson. On the third Sunday we continue to review the
lesson and prepare a food item related to the lesson. On the fourth
Sunday we continue to study the lesson through art and games and
each student is given the opportunity to say the memory verse for the
month and choose a small prize. On the fifth Sunday we continue to
review the lesson and show a movie related to the lesson.
9:30 AM – Children ages 3 years old through 5th grade will process
from the Nave after the Children’s Sermon.
11:00 AM – Children ages 3 years old through 5th grade will process
from the Nave after the Children’s Sermon. Youth ages 6th grade
through 8th grade are welcome to process out with the younger
children to help teach the lesson.
During the time your children are in the classrooms we will follow the
following schedule: Prayer/offering/attendance, music, activity for the
week, memory verse, light snack every Sunday except for the third
Sunday and ending with blessing/prayer/visiting.
The theme of the month of March is “Listening to God’s Voice.”

1st - 5th - "I will make an agreement with you and your descendants
that I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you."

#7—Mutual Ministry Committee
Questionnaire
A Mutual Ministry Committee has been formed to serve as a liaison
between Pastor Milton and the Gloria Dei family. This Mutual Ministry
Committee’s task is to identify areas of strength and those requiring
further development in our ministry here at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
(GDLC) and, more specifically, in relation to Pastor Milton and her
service to our congregation. Our first priority is to perform an
evaluation of the responsibilities of Pastor Milton.
A random group of the congregation, along with school families and
staff, received questionnaires to gather information about Pastor’s
work among and with us. All inputs received will be kept in the utmost
confidentiality.
If you did not receive a questionnaire and you wish to provide your
input, additional forms are available behind the information desk in the
Koinonia Atrium. Completed questionnaires should be placed in
the box behind the information desk or mailed to GDLC, 250 Fox
Hill Road, Hampton, VA 23669 (Attn: Mutual Ministry Committee),

The Daybreakers Breakfast Bible Study meets the first and third

#11—WELCA - Women of the ELCA
At Gloria Dei all women of college age and older are a part of Women
of the ELCA. WELCA is an avenue to shared growth in spiritual
development, women centered Bible study, engagement in social
ministry and social justice, and nurturing friendships rooted in our
Christian faith. We also like having a good time while we do good
stuff! Please feel free to get involved in any way your schedule will
allow; there are no formal memberships or meetings.
Women of the ELCA of Gloria Dei: March 23, 6:30-8:30, in the

Lenten Bible Study with Pastor Milton
WELCA Book Group: will meet on Monday evening, April 13, at
7:00 PM. Normally, the book group meets the first Monday of each
month; but because the first Monday is the day after Easter, April’s
meeting will take place a week later. The book for this month is:

The WELCA Book Group is planning an overnight field trip to
Washington D.C. to see Renoir’s stunning painting The Luncheon of

Women of the ELCA of Gloria Dei: April 27, 6:30-8:30, in the Simeon
Center
Once again, WELCA will be gathering supplies to make Personal
Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief.
“When LWR distributes Personal Care Kits, it’s often to people who
have lost everything. In the wake of an earthquake, or having fled from
violence as their homes were overtaken, they clasp a towel from a
faraway place, with a bar of soap, a toothbrush…and washing up, they
know that they have not been forsaken by the world. The very simple
gesture of giving a Personal Care Kit can give someone the
encouragement to start anew, starting with a bath. You can share
God’s grace and love by providing that simple comfort.” Anyone may
donate any of the following items. Please drop off donations in the
designated box in the Atrium, by Sunday April, 26.
One light-weight bath-size towel (between 20"×40" & 52"×27"), dark
color recommended
Two bath-size bars (4 to 5 oz.) of soap, any brand, in original wrapping
One adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging, toothbrush
multi-packs are acceptable
One sturdy full-sized comb
One metal nail clippers (attached file optional)
#12—Altar Guild Needs
The Altar Guild is in need of more members. Please contact Kim Miller
in the church office if you are interested in helping. We also continue to
need help in the Vestry for the Cross and Crown robes. Please
consider helping if you have a son or daughter who participates in
Cross and Crown. Many hands make lighter work! Call the church
office and speak with Kim at 851-2838.

#18—50th Anniversary Video Committee
As part of the Gloria Dei 50th Anniversary celebration, the Video Committee is working on a video about Gloria Dei Church and School and
its people, its past, and its future. Today we are offering the congregation a chance to be a part of this. We are setting up a camera in the
church office reception area that will run from the end of the first service till after the third service. We would like members to say whatever
they would like about Gloria Dei Church and School without anyone else in the room. Just you and the camera and your chance to be a
part of the celebration. If you have any questions, ask Bob Kaufmann or Dan Singer. Thank you!

Easter Eggstravaganza Lock-In at the Fox Hill Campus with Egg Hunt in the morning. We will start the evening with pizza and stuffing
eggs. Bring games, movies, your sleeping bag, and pillow. Also, bring a snack to share.

Leaving the church at 12:30pm (please eat lunch prior to arriving at the church) - returning at 7pm.
Cost is $50 plus extra money for food, snacks, and video games.

#21—Prayer Shawls Blessed
On Sunday, March 8, we blessed almost 30 prayer shawls, lap robes, and baptismal blankets. These items will go to people who are in
a time of distress in their lives. Sometimes it’s a death in the family, an illness, or surgery. The baptismal blankets are given to infants at
their baptism into the body of Christ. Upon presentation, the recipient is reminded that they are part of God’s family, wrapped in His love
and the love of the congregation.
The articles were created by members of the Prayer Shawl ministry. They include Patrice Blair, Rita Foringer, Sharon France, Ellen
Halley, Tiiu Hart, Mary Mace, Ginny McCreery, Nancy Monroe, Jenna Turner, and Crystal Via. Members emeritus include Paula Jones,
Dale Pedersen, and Jennifer Williams. Anyone wishing to join us is most welcome. Contact Rita Foringer at 850-3472 for more

FLAMINGO FLOCKING FUNDRAISER
For a fee you can have someone “flocked.”
The cost is $1.00 for each flamingo.
In case you are wondering, flocking is the placement of a flock of pink flamingo yard ornaments in celebration of an
event or occasion—popular times are birthdays, promotions, anniversaries, etc... The birds land in the cover of
darkness and are then picked up 24 to 48 hours later. A flocker is a volunteer who places them in the
appropriate spot at the appropriate time, then attends to picking them up later.
If you would like to have someone flocked, FIRST please contact Vicki Venable (vlvenable@gmail.com,
281-9468) or Peggy Sipes (pegs21@cox.net, 288-5689) to check on availability of the flock. SECOND, we ask you
to fill out the form below and place it and your check payable to Gloria Dei (please indicate this is for flocking or
flamingos in the memo line of the check) in a sealed envelope and return it to the “Youth” box across from the
kitchen.

Easter Egg Order Form
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is selling chocolate covered Easter eggs. The eggs are available in two sizes and seven
fabulous flavors. The large eggs weigh approximately 8 oz. and can be personalized. The small eggs can be ordered in an
assortment with one of each flavor or one flavor per box. The weight of each small egg is approximately 1.5 oz. All eggs
will be decorated with flowers. Please return completed order forms to the information desk in the atrium and place in the
box labeled Easter Egg Orders.
Order deadline is Monday, March 16. All orders must be pre-paid. Make checks payable to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
