Dear Parents and Carers,
What an eventful day we had yesterday! Thank you for collecting your children so promptly. Please can I
remind you that it is extremely important that you let us know if you change your mobile number or work
number. Can you also please check that your emergency contact numbers are correct.
Once again, thank you for supporting our book week. The book fair raised £248 which we have already
spent on new books for the library. The camp fire, raffle and pyjama day raised a total of £229.85 this
will also be used to purchase new books. It was wonderful to see so many Dads at the camp fire. I think
they enjoyed it as much as the children.
What a wonderful sporting week we have had. Rucstall Boys 7-a-side football team reached the quarter
finals of the Basingstoke tournament which was held at Rucstall losing 1-0 to Fairfields. A big well done
to Adam Jarman, Alex Wadmore, Mitchel Scales (c), Eoin Hedges, Sonny Tucker, Daniel Richards,
Josh Bond, Sam Tanner and Harry Smith.
Last Friday the KS1 team participated in a Fun Football Festival at Powerleague, winning three matches
and drawing one. Well done to Rhys McBryde (c), Hayden Pickard, Callum Ralph, Kyran
Richardson, Ollie Johnson, Joshua Deevoy, Jared Flynn and Aryan Pednekar.
Rucstall’s tag rugby team won two of their three matches in the Norman League fixture at King’s
Furlong. Team: Alex Wadmore, Ria Parsons, Meriem Banani, Ellie Wadmore, Daniel Richards,
Josh Bond, Sam Tanner, Adam Jarman and Sonny Tucker. We are also proud of the excellent
performance by our Year 3 tag rugby team, which resulted in a winning plate and all children receiving
individual medals. A superb performance from Bidhit Basnet (c), Pedro Luises, Clare Hyland, LibbeJo Lawler, Mackenzie Johnston, Lewis McIntyre, George Murphy and Hayden Pickard.
Rucstall’s netball team finished a creditable 8th out of 12 schools at the Basingstoke finals at Russell
Howard Park. Well done to: Ria Parsons, Georgia McGrath, Maisey Pepper, Libby Davies, Sonny
Tucker and Sam Tucker.
Last week Rucstall launched its ‘Brilliant Bookworms’ reading challenge. We have been keeping track
of those children who have read three times or more at home in a week. Fir Class have won both weeks
so far – very well done! As you can see, some classes made a huge improvement from one week to the
next, with Lime Class getting 46% more reading this week than the last.

To help your child’s class win next week, please remember to sign and send in their reading records
every day. Also remember that reading on Bug Club counts so long as it is written in their reading
records.
