WELCOME TO TRINITY!
Our congregation includes people of all backgrounds and
perspectives. We gather together with a common love for
God and all God’s people. We worship, learn and serve
together. We’re glad you are with us this morning!
Our pastor is Reverend Penny Ford who can be reached
through the church office Monday through Thursday
(759-4206) or at revpennyford@gmail.com). You can
also visit us on-line at: www.trinityumc.info or join us on
FACEBOOK at “Trinity UMC Tuscaloosa, AL”.
NURSERY: A nursery is available during all worship services and on Wednesday nights. To
find the nursery from the rear of the sanctuary, walk down the left side aisle to the front of the
sanctuary and exit from the door on the left of the pulpit. Turn left, go down the stairs and you
will be facing the door into the nursery. We have a wireless pager system in the nursery. Parents
receive a pager upon arrival in the nursery.
REST ROOMS: As you enter in the back of the sanctuary, there are stairs to either side. On
your right, the stairs lead down to the ladies’ room and on your left, they lead down to the men’s
room. If you are at the front of the sanctuary, exit the door on the left and turn to the right and
there is a rest room on the left.
HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBILITY: Trinity offers handicapped access to the sanctuary
through the education wing elevator. Handicapped spaces are in the rear of the church. Walk
into the building using the glass door on the far left. The elevator is to your immediate left. It
will take you up one level to the sanctuary.
HEARING ASSISTANCE: If you are hearing impaired, we have hearing assistance aids
available in the narthex (back entry hall) of the sanctuary located in the brown box on the table.
Or you can just ask an usher!
Ready to Join? We are excited to receive
you into our church membership! There are
several ways you can join with us in serving God
and others. If you are ready today you can fill
out a yellow card (front and back) in the pew,
and you can come forward during the last hymn
of any service.
Full (Professing) Members are those who
join with the United Methodist Church and
specifically Trinity UMC and vow to serve God
through their prayers, presence, gifts, service
and witness. People who have already been
baptized in another church or denomination
do not need to get re-baptized. Your church
membership can be easily transferred from
another UMC church or a church of another
denomination.
Baptism: If you have never been baptized and
wish to do so, please contact our pastor, Penny
Ford, who would love to talk to you about
your baptism! (revpennyford@gmail.com or
759-4206)
Affiliate Members are members of another
United Methodist Church who wish to join
Trinity UMC temporarily while retaining their
membership in their home church. (Lots of
students choose this option).
Associate Members are people who have been
baptized in another Christian denomination,
wish to connect with a local United Methodist
Church, but wish to retain their current
denominational affiliation.

* SAYING WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Apostles’ Creed
#881
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius
Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from
the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of
God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the
quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion
of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and
the life everlasting. Amen

The cross will be draped in black as a sign of Christ’s crucifixion
and death. At the end of the service you are invited to exit in
silence as we enter into Holy Week.
* Please stand as you are able.
Today’s readers are Rev. Michelle Hunter, and Dr. Philip Westbrook.
Next Sunday please bring fresh cut flowers to adorn
our cross on Easter morning!
THE FLOWERING CROSS
The cross stands at the center of our faith as a symbol of life. The
Flowering Cross is an especially striking and beautiful way to symbolize
the new life that emerges from the death of Good Friday. Is is found in
Christian art and is based on a legend that the cross burst into bloom at
the moment Jesus dies. Please bring fresh cut flowers on Easter morning
and help us decorate a Flowering Cross in honor of our risen Lord.

LITURGICAL DANCERS BLURB
We are excited to welcome all who are leading our worship this morning
with dance! Students, youth and children came together to learn a dance
choreographed by Dana McCarty in North Carolina, which was modified
for worship at Trinity. The song is ‘In Christ Alone.’ The director is
Emily Elliot who comes to Tuscaloosa from North Carolina where she is
working on her PhD through the UNC Department of Marine Sciences.
Emily brings to Trinity her love for worship, dance and children. We
welcome all of our dancers and are grateful they are willing to share their
gifts with us today!

TRINITY’S SOFTBALL TEAMS
This spring Trinity will field two
softball teams in Tuscaloosa’s PARA
church league. The men’s team will
be managed by Cliff Johns and the
women’s team will be managed by
Denise Moody. (This season we will
not have a co-ed team.)
The men’s season starts March 31
and the women’s season starts April
15. You do not have to be a member
of Trinity to join Trinity’s softball
teams. Games are scheduled for
Tuesday and Thursday nights,
anywhere from 6:15 to 9:15 start times.
All games are played at Sokol Park,
north of the river. Trinity pays the
registration fee and provides every
team member with a numbered
t-shirt; there is no cost to team
members—but we always welcome
donations for our outreach ministries,
if you feel so led.
If you have a glove, that’s good. But,
if you don’t have a glove, don’t let
that stop you from joining the team.
There are no try-outs. If you want to
play for Trinity, you are on the team if
you are at least 16 years old. Last
year, the men’s team spanned two
generations and the women’s team
had players from three generations!
Contact Cliff Johns at 205-331-2542 or
Denise Moody at smoody34@hotmail.
com if you want to play softball this
spring.
