Almighty and everlasting God, who in your tender
love towards the human race sent your Son our
Saviour Jesus Christ to take upon him our flesh and
to suffer death upon the cross: grant that we may
follow the example of his patience and humility, and
also be made partakers of his resurrection; through
Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and
reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one
God, now and for ever. Amen.
COLLECT FOR ASH WEDNESDAY
Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing
that you have made and forgive the sins of all those
who are penitent: create and make in us new and
contrite hearts that we, worthily lamenting our sins
and acknowledging our wretchedness, may receive
from you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission
and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ your Son our
Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of
the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

REMEMBERING LEE KUAN YEW
(1923 - 2015)
The Bishop, Clergy and members of the Anglican church here join the nation in mourning and to
pay tribute to Mr Lee Kuan Yew, our beloved founding father of modern Singapore.
He had served the nation faithfully with an exemplary integrity, advancing the well-being of many
Singaporeans. The foundation of a confident, mature and socially cohesive society has been laid,
making a mark on the world map on so many fronts.
We pray for Mr Lee’s family members, especially our Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, that
they will be comforted in their bereavement and experience the peace of God.
289 FELLOWSHIP OF THE
MANGER
Mobile Medical Service
to the Community (MOFOW)
PRAYER and BRIEFING/
REGISTRATION
at Chapel for All Peoples
at 7:30pm on Mon, 13th April.
We are called, as disciples of Jesus, to love our
neighbours as ourselves. This mission affords you an
opportunity to do just that. Be a part of this unique
mobile medical mission which serves 2 vulnerable
population groups by providing free primary healthcare
and health screening – the migrant workers living in
residential dormitories and the elderly poor living in
1-room HBD estates. You do not have to be a doctor
or a nurse to serve. Non-medical volunteers are also
most welcome. It only requires about 4 hours of your
time on a Saturday evening. If you would like to
volunteer, please write to A/Prof. Joseph Thambiah
at josephthambiah@gmail.com or Mr. Philip Lim at
philip_lim@sach.org.sg
The cost for each volunteer for the return ferry
tickets and lunch should be S$30 for upcoming
trip.
In 2015, the mission dates are:
18 Apr, 9 May, 4 Jul, 15 Aug, 5 Sep, 17 Oct, 7
Nov
On Sat, 18th April 2015 the “289 Fellowship
of the Manger” mission team will be distributing
food to about 2000 families in Batam. During the
Food Distribution we will also conduct Children’s
ministry in partnership with Peduli Bangsa an
Indonesian NGO and Gereja Anglikan Indonesia.
Please note the age limit for volunteers is 13
years and above. All who wish to go for mission
trip are required to attend:
The remaining 2015 mission trips to Batam are
planned for the following Saturdays: June 6,
Aug 22, Oct 24, Dec 5.
We welcome your support and if you wish to
contribute, your donations can be made out to
“St Andrew’s Cathedral” with “289 Fellowship
of the Manger” written on the back of your
cheques or envelope.
Please submit your names early as spaces on the
mission teams are at a premium. No prior medical
mission experience is necessary. This mission
survives by the grace of God and through your
generous contributions. If you would like to contribute
financially to this logistically intensive mission, please
make your cheques out to “St. Andrew’s Community
Hospital” with “Mobile Medical Service” written on the
back and drop the cheques into the offertory bags. All
donations are tax-deductible 250%.

DIOCESE OF SINGAPORE

Protestants and Anglicans together numbered 45%
in 1950 but are now only 11%. In each denomination,
the degree of theological liberalisation – especially
in the mainline United Church and in Anglicanism
– has generally coincided with the rate of decline.
On the positive side, this fading of Christendom has
trimmed the ‘deadwood’ from churches but it still
reflects a sad decline in the influence of the gospel
in Canada. Pray for a much-needed revival, starting
in the Church and radiating outward. (Source:
Operation World, 21st Century Edition, pp. 164-5)
• Prayer for the Diocese Family
To guard against Deception:
- Remembering that God desires truth in the inward
parts (Psalm 51:6), allow God to expose sins in
us.
- Hold fast to an attitude of humility by continually
opening up our hearts to the searching light of the
Holy Spirit; our safeguard against pride.
- Act on the desire to live with integrity, let His Light
shine, remove the veil of deception, and dispel the
darkness of falsehood.

• Prayer for the Deanery of Cambodia
• Our First Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew
As we bid farewell to Mr Lee Kuan Yew, we thank God
for blessing Singapore with a gifted-leader who was
not only wise and bold, but selfless and leading a
life filled with utmost passion towards peace, justice,
equality, prosperity and progress for our nation. Let
us uphold our national leaders for God’s blessings as
they pursue to lead our nation to greater height and
higher ground with the legacy of the late Mr Lee.
Pray for Church of the Good Shepherd, Phnom Penh,
in particular for Revd Chan Peng Wah and his wife
Grace, as they pastor this flock; pray for wisdom on
how to shepherd a transient flock, for a core team of
leaders to rise up; and for the members to grow in
maturity, and for God to provide co-labourers to assist
Revd Chan.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all that was done for
us because Jesus was obedient despite the enormous
