MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISING CHAIRMAN
Welcome to the 18th edition of the Scientific Meeting of the Malaysian Society of
Transplantation. The theme for this year is “Transplantation: Celebrating a Journey
of 40 Years.” 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the first renal transplantation
which was carried out by a team of pioneers on 15 December 1975.
In recognition of the invaluable contribution of our fellow Intensivists and
Anaesthesiologists in organ procurement and transplantation, a special joint
symposium will be held with the Malaysia Society of Intensive Care and the
Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists. I hope that you will find the scientific
programme interesting and beneficial. This meeting will also provide opportunities
for networking and for exchange of ideas.
I would like to thank all the invited speakers, the sponsors, the organizing committee
members for their support and for making this scientific meeting possible.
Lastly I would like to congratulate TOP Teams for continuing their effort and
perseverance in this area. Slowly but surely there have been an increase in public
awareness and willingness to donate.
I wish all the participants an enjoyable meeting.
Yours sincerely,
Dato’ Dr. Tan Chwee Choon
