RTO 41056 CHC52212 Diploma of Community Services Coordination (Distance) Information Package Introduction This qualification addresses work across the community sector, in organisations involved in community work, community development and community care services and volunteer programs, in a range of settings such as residential facilities, group homes, community agencies and government departments. This qualification is aimed at workers who: Apply knowledge and skills gained through previous experience or qualifications to resolve problems within organisation guidelines Coordinate specific programs and/or projects and supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers or volunteers and report to service managers May undertake a first line management role. Course description There are fourteen (14) units of competency that must be completed to attain the Diploma in Community Services Coordination including seven (7) core units and seven (7) elective units. All of these units are offered through 3Bridges Community. The selection of elective units can be negotiated with each learner and in accordance with the training package rules. You will also have the opportunity to complete 80 hours supervised work placement in a suitable Community Services agency to enhance your learning experience. For the work placement component, a training plan will be developed to allow you to undertake specific activities under supervision of a workplace supervisor. The total duration of the work placement will be 80 hours which may be carried out progressively over the same time as your complete your distance learning resources or immediately following completion of the learning resources. You will need to identify a suitable employer/s to undertake your work placement hours and they must be willing to supervise you and sign off on your training documentation. Once you find a suitable employer please contact 3Bridges so we can also contact the employer and discuss with them the full requirements of the work placement. If you believe you may have trouble finding a suitable work placement please contact us before you enrol All learners are required to complete assessment tasks in their own time. This work may include research, further reading, completing workplace observation checklists, written questions and case studies. A timetable will be supplied to each learner to assist in organising study time, provide due dates for assessments and help you complete the qualification within the required time and in accordance with the training package rules. Entry requirements In accordance with the training package rules to gain entry into CHC52212 Diploma of Community Services Coordination learners need to have previous work experience in the community sector in a job role that involved: Self directed application of knowledge Exercise of independent judgement and decision making , and A range of technical and other skills. In addition 3Bridges Community requires: Learners to complete Language, Numeracy and Literacy test during enrolment Learners to obtain a current Police Clearance Certificate check as it is usually required by the host organisation for your work placement Suitability for working in the aged care sector Provide 100 point ID Leaners to provide their unique student number or gain one before commencing study Leaners to complete all necessary enrolment paperwork before commencing study Leaners to provide the details of their host employer and contact details for their workplace supervisor. Leaners to pay their initial invoice and read the refund policy Leaners to have read the student handbook and signed and returned their letter of offer. Can I have my current skills and knowledge recognised? Yes! You may choose to undertake Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for any of the units of this course. In addition if you have undertaken other study or have another qualification and you think you possess some or equivalent units listed in the Diploma of community Services Coordination then contact the training team as you may be eligible for credit transfer. Information Package V1 CHC52212 Diploma of Community Services Coordination (Distance) 4 Gaining either or both RPL and credit transfer can reduce the number of units required to complete the qualification and therefore your study time. How long does it take to complete the qualification? Time frames for each student depend on a number of factors, including your own schedule, the method you choose to complete the course such as RPL, distance learning or attending workshops, and if you need to resubmit any assessment tasks. Don’t forget some late or re-submitted assessments may attract an additional cost. Students have two (2) years to complete the Diploma. When can I start? There are several intakes each year for Diploma of Community Services Coordination. The first course intake for 2015 is Thursday 29th January 2015. Generally students can enrol to undertake the qualification by distance at any time however additional intakes scheduled for 2015 have been scheduled for May and September. How do I enrol? Simply complete the expression of interest form in this information package and return to 3Bridges Community via email, fax or post. The training team will then contact you to discuss and action your enrolment. What is the course fee? As a not for profit, community based organisation, 3Bridges Community heavily subsidises student fees. Each student will be invoiced on enrolment for $1000. Subsequent payments will be invoiced on a quarterly basis. To complete the course using RPL, the fee is 75% of the full fee $2,500. 3Bridges regularly sources funding for training to keep costs down. If you are currently working in the aged, disability or home and community care sector, there are a number of partially funded distance learning places available for the January 2015 intake. As a result the distance course fee is now $1250. If you are not working in the sector, the fee is $2500. However course fees may change without prior notice.
