For 26 years and counting, My Friend’s Place has been assisting and inspiring homeless youth to build self-sufficient lives. From its early beginnings as a volunteer-based group serving meals from the trunks of cars to the dynamic resource center we operate today, My Friend’s Place offers a comprehensive continuum of services to homeless youth between the ages of 12 and 25, and their children, helping our homeless young people to move toward wellness, stability and self-sufficiency. The youth who visit My Friend’s Place become homeless for a wide range of reasons: 78% of the youth MFP serves report family conflict, including physical and/or sexual abuse, neglect, or rejection as part of the reason for their homelessness. Whatever brought them to the streets, youth learn that they will find acceptance, support, and guidance at My Friend’s Place. MFP is committed to a trauma-informed, harm-reduction approach and low-barrier service model that emphasizes the value of each individual young person who walks through our doors. My Friend’s Place - A Year By The Numbers:  Provided services to more than 1,400 young people  Served nearly 30,000 meals  Provided case management services to 452 individual youth  Assisted 118 young people in securing housing  Provided education and employment services to 413 youth  Served 347 youth through creative and living arts workshops The primary goals of My Friend’s Place’s programming are three-fold: Build trust with homeless young people; lower the traditional barriers many youth experience when attempting to access services; provide a diverse array of services to maximize the psychological, intellectual and physical capacity of youth in crisis via our three programmatic focus areas: Safe Haven, Transformative Education and Health & Well-Being. My Friend’s Place receives no government funding, instead partnering with private foundations, corporations and individuals who share our commitment to supporting our most vulnerable young members of our community. My Friend’s Place received a perfect score for financial transparency and accountability from Charity Navigator. We are committed to the highest level of financial stewardship, with 89% of all support going directly to services for homeless young people.
