THE FREEDOM TO BEAR WITNESS JUNE 25, 2015 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Archdiocesan Pastoral Center Auditorium Presenters: Jayd Henricks, Executive Director, Office of Government Relations United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Fr. Joseph Cazenavette Policy Advisor for Marriage and Family United States Conference of Catholic Bishops In a potentially historic ruling, the court will decide in late June whether same-sex “couples” have a right to marry nationwide, culminating a two-decade legal and political fight for same – sex “marriage.” Regardless of how the court will decide, the Church will continue to call upon all of our leaders and the people of our nation to stand steadfastly together in promoting and defending the unique meaning of marriage: one man, one woman, for life. Jayd and Fr. Joseph will give us some insight into what the ramifications of an adverse ruling would be for the Church, what the USCCB can do to effect public policy regarding marriage and how we can participate in this effort.
