January - April 2015 • www.berkshiresouth.org 5 Welcome to Berkshire South A Note from the Executive Director As I was leafing through this catalogue preparing my thoughts to share with you, it occurred to me how often I say, “Berkshire South Regional Community Center offers something for every one, of all abilities and all ages.” Then, it struck me how amazingly true that statement is. Scanning page after page reviewing preschool to aquatics to youth programming, Zumba, adaptive programs and Pilates, I saw a breadth of opportunities that go beyond most other offerings in the Berkshires, each with the potential to enhance your life. This naturally led me to thinking about our members, their needs and the community we all share; the importance of ensuring that the Community Center’s benefits are available to all in spite of the ability to pay. The founding principles of Berkshire South have been made only stronger over the years as we work together to fulfill the promise of health and wellness, camaraderie and companionship. It is possibly one of the healthiest aspects of life – to be a part of something, a contributing member of a positive collective. We want to provide such a place for you, your family and the Southern Berkshires and, above all, we want it to be fun. Your participation and support make it possible. This year is special for me personally. My baby girl has just begun attending the Sunshine Preschool Program, and I, like other mothers with children here, know that Reese will be engaged by creative activities and caring, supportive adults while mommy is busy at work. My older daughter, all of five now, is similarly occupied with the Center’s Out Of School programming that provides her with a safe, warm and nurturing environment until we are all ready to head home to our evening with Dad. Whatever your circumstance, young, old, teen, married, single, healthy or recuperating, there is something here at the Community Center for you. Take a moment and leaf through the catalogue yourself to see what catches your fancy. You’ll find plenty to choose from. We’re here to serve, and we look forward to welcoming you throughout 2015! Jenise Lucey Executive Director Berkshire South is more than a fitness center, it’s a community center. You make our community stronger. Your Community Center has a reputation for offering both high quality and a broad quantity of programs. The Center is an incredible resource for people of all ages from toddlers to seniors. Your gifts are investments in these programs and resources. It is central to the mission of Berkshire South Regional Community Center that we are open to all, regardless of ability to pay. In an effort to reach our goal of connecting the community at large, in the most inclusive way possible, BSRCC has created a financial assistance model for membership and programs. Our policy maintains the integrity of the applicant while ensuring confidentiality. Your support is needed. Berkshire South Regional Community Center is a non-sectarian, 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
