COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS FORWARD JEREMY MORIN NAMED TO TEAM USA FOR 2015 IIHF
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
2011 draft pick Mike Reilly also among first group of 15 players named to the men’s national team
COLUMBUS, OHIO --- Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jeremy Morin has been selected among the first group of 15
players to represent the United States National Team at the 2015 IIHF World Championships to be held from May 1-17
in Prague and Ostrava, Czech Republic, USA Hockey announced today. This will mark the fifth time Morin will represent
Team USA in international competition.
Morin, 23, posted two goals and four assists for six points with 28 penalty minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 43
games with the Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks this season. He notched 2-4-6, 13 penalty minutes and was +1 in
28 games after being acquired by Columbus from Chicago in exchange for defenseman Tim Erixon on December 14. In
82 career NHL games, he has registered 10-12-22 with 69 penalty minutes and a +8 plus/minus rating with the Blue
Jackets and Blackhawks.
The Auburn, New York native was Atlanta’s third selection, 45th overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft. He has collected 81-77158, 301 penalty minutes and a +21 plus/minus rating in 208 career AHL games with the Rockford IceHogs, including 1-01 and two penalty minutes in three outings in 2014-15.
Morin has tallied 14-12-26 in 25 career tournament appearances for the United States. He last represented Team USA
at the 2011 World Junior Championship, helping the Americans win a bronze medal. He also won gold medals at the
2010 World Junior Championship and 2009 U18 World Championship, along with a bronze medal at the 2008 U18 World
Championship.
Defenseman Mike Reilly, the Blue Jackets’ third pick, 98th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, was also named to the Team
USA squad that will be coached by Blue Jackets Head Coach Todd Richards. Reilly, who won a gold medal at the 2013
World Junior Championship, recently wrapped up his third season at the University of Minnesota, where he registered
18-71-89 in 117 career games.
