Student Open Forum with Professor Glenn Burgess
On 11 March Professor Glenn Burgess the Deputy Vice
Chancellor and the Student Union hosted an open forum for
students. The event was well attended and an open discussion
held about perceived impacts on University of Hull, Scarborough
Campus students during the transition to Hull College Group.
Tom Swainson, HUU VP Scarborough introduced the meeting
and explained the background to the event. He handed out a
copy of the HUU Principles to each student present and
explained that the document had been agreed with senior
management at the University of Hull. The document, which was
signed by Professor Burgess and the HUU at the event, sets out
what students can expect from the University and the Students’
Union in terms of providing the best possible student experience
over the transition period.
Professor Burgess explained that he was here to give an
overview and to listen to what students had to say. Professor
Burgess said that now was the right time to hold a face to face

meeting following the process of announcing the University’s
decision to change the academic model for Scarborough
Campus, going through the bidding process and as of November
2014 choosing Hull College Group as our strategic delivery

All Student Emails
At the Student Forum on 11 March a number of you raised an
issue with regard to not receiving all student emails. We have
done a thorough check and found around 20 email addresses
were not included in the all student group. These are now
added. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and
hope the issue is now resolved.
