Do you love Batiks? This workshop has been arranged to teach safe/waxfree methods of creating stunning fabric. Come and learn how everyday items can produce beautiful designs, while dyeing fabric. SAT Aug 20, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. $40.00 plus materials If The Hat Fits Pauline Isbester From Buggy Barn’s Frightfully Crazy, these witches are flying in on their brooms to welcome Halloween! This combination of a Stack and Whack and Turning Twenty style quilt make for a fun day of quilting. Our little witches have dangly legs that hang out over their brooms to give the quilt a 3-D effect. SAT Aug. 13, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. $30.00 plus materials & book Full Circle Christine Whitehouse Learn to sew curves in this technique class, made easy with quarter circle templates. Use the soft blue and brown batiks, as in our sample, or pick your own fabrics. With the simplified instructions, curves have never been easier! SAT June 25, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. $25.00 plus materials Amy Butler’s Birdie Sling Wendy Oskam The bag lady is back for another spin! This popular tote is a great way to learn basic bag techniques including making pleats, lining, top-stitching, and inserting a magnet closure. SAT July 9, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. $25.00 plus pattern & materials Workshop Registration Policy Payment is due upon registration. Full refund up to 30 days before class. Refund after 30 days only if space can be filled. No refund if cancelled within 48 hours. New quilters are asked to take one of the beginner workshops first, before advancing on to other classes. A machine is available for a $5.00 rental fee per hour. The store will open 15 minutes prior to classes that take place outside of regular hours. While we don’t insist that you purchase your fabric and supplies at Greenwood Quiltery, we do appreciate your support so that we can continue to provide you with quality teachers and an extensive range of workshops. Machine Foundation Paper Piecing Johanna Masko In this full day course, we will learn a freezer paper-based version of foundation paper piecing (often referred to simply as paper piecing), how it differs from traditional block construction and why so many quilters are crazy about it! She will explain how to turn floral photos into a pattern suitable for a fused quilt wall hanging. Choose from four flower patterns. No sewing machine required. WED Oct 5, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. $60.00 plus pattern & materials Collage Tree Is there anyone who doesn’t love a gnarled mature tree with all that textured bark? Learn how Elaine creates her collage trees, while using one of her patterns and a photo as your reference. Learn to see value and represent depth. No sewing machine required. THURS Oct. 6, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. $60.00 plus pattern & materials Beyond Stippling I Are you in a stippling rut? Expand your repertoire of beautiful free-motion stitches! Designed for machine quilters who are familiar with free-motion quilting, but need creative ideas to venture beyond stippling. Learn at least 20 free motion designs including various meanderings, swirls, nested designs, leaves, and flowers. Experiment with cotton, rayon, and metallic threads. No need to mark your quilt top, and nothing to wash off after!
