Raise the BAR…
Education is the background and milestone of women empowerment because it enables them to respond
to the challenges, to confront their traditional roles and helping them out to bring changes in their life.
“If you educate a man you educate an individual, however, if you educate
a woman you educate a whole family. Women empowered means mother
India empowered”.
Though, education is provided by the public sector as well as private sector with funds coming from all
the three levels, still the actual quantity of schooling that children experience and the quality of teaching
they receive are not up to the expectation in government schools.
Educated people not only promote education but also provide better guidance to their children, which
will help in reducing infant mortality, growth of the population, child marriage and would contribute
meaningfully to the nation.
In the latest Education for all Global Monitoring Report (GMR) released worldwide by UNESCO
acknowledges the headway made by India in improving access to education but the country’s population
of illiterate adults has been identified as the drag factor. It is also to be noticed that India currently has
the largest population of illeterate adults in the world with 278 million.
