THE LION’S ROAR
News from P.E.
The past 3 months have been super busy for the students in PE class. Grades 1
through 8 have completed the Presidential Fitness Testing! They are so curious to
see how they did. Once the awards arrive they will be announced…so stay tuned
and keep a close eye on the Lions Roar for all the results!
Grades 2 through 8 have completed our section on volleyball
and badminton. They very quickly learned that playing
volleyball on scooters is a challenge and requires a lot of team
work! Preschool through 1st grade worked on some volleying
skills using balloons and beach balls! You can certainly
imagine their excitement each class!!!
Now that all the snow has melted and the temperatures are
fabulous we are back outside!!! We have started into our final
section of the year - softball! We are practicing some throwing
and catching using mitts/gloves. Grades 2 through 8 will learn
basic skills to play a softball game. Preschool
through 1st grade will work with the baseball
tee and whiffle balls and learn about running
the bases. If your son/ daughter came home
saying they can bring their glove to school well they are correct! I do ask that their name
be clearly written on it so that they don’t get
mixed up with the school’s mitts.
With the temperatures getting warmer PLEASE
try to send an extra water bottle with your
child/children. It does get very warm in direct
sunshine and I like them to sit in the shade and hydrate often.

4th GRADE FUN & FRIENDS
It is hard to believe that it is time for our year to come to a close and that it
is nearly June! We have had an amazing time together in fourth grade
learning, laughing and making new and everlasting friendships. These
friends are ready to move onto the middle school and flourish into
outstanding students.
As we wrap up the year and head into summer, we
have been looking at the world around us. We have
studied different ways to reduce, reuse, recycle and
replace. We have learned through a number of
activities that we need to treat the world around us
with respect and avoid adding pollutants because
we all want it to be beautiful for years to come.
One of the most exciting activities was with our fish,
Freddie. Freddie was a
sponge placed in a
“crystal clear pond” (cup
of water). He swam
amongst a number of different pollutants on his
journey home. He ran into trash, chemicals, and
acid rain. Some of our friends were shocked
that a little bit of a pollutant made a big
difference in the water and nearly turned the
water totally solid.
Please enjoy the rest of the school year and
have a wonderful summer!

OUR 1ST PLACE FLOAT!
Immanuel’s Memorial Day float won the first place trophy in this years
parade! Hopefully you saw the trophy when you were here for “An
Evening of the Arts” on Wednesday.
A big thank you to Dina Bacher and all her helpers for putting together
such a wonderful float to represent our school in the parade!
Thanks also to all the kids and their families who showed their school
spirit by marching along with us in the parade.
