PR SPECTUS
Newsletter of the Prospect School PTO
From the desk of Mrs. Kryger:
As the 2014-2015 school year comes to a close. I want to say thank
you for all the support you provided this past year. Prospect is an
outstanding school community because of our students, staff, and
parents. The students have grown academically and socially and I
have been very impressed with all of the students’ work ethics and
dedication toward learning. The Prospect Staff works endlessly to
provide a challenging learning environment that encourages lifelong
learning and helps students to be productive citizens in a diverse
global society. Our school is also fortunate to have such involved
parents that are committed to promoting excellence. Prospect truly is
a great place to learn!
A special thank you to the Prospect Executive Board and PTO members. The service provided to us at
Prospect is truly amazing. The funds raised are also important to maintain and further develop our
school’s programs and technology needs. We really appreciate all the PTO members and parents for
what they do for our students and our school.
I would also like to thank a few special people at Prospect School. This includes my administrative
assistants Mrs. Sandy Martinek and Mrs. Terry Pocius. They truly are the best administrative assistant
team with whom any principal could hope to work with. Mrs. Cathy Siracusa, our school nurse, has also
been an invaluable member of the office team this year.
We at Prospect are proud to have had the opportunity to work with your child(ren). I hope you all have a
great summer! Please look for additional information to be mailed to you over summer.

Lauren, our website is stable, looks great, and ready for the future!
Our first ever Fun Run, raising more than $15,000 for our Prospect School and kids, while generating a great
deal of positive energy and school spirit to start off the school year!
“World Cultures through Art” coordinating art themes in Art Awareness with fabulous Assembly offerings of South
and Central American culture and music, and Chinese dance.
A spectacular school Auction, led by Beth Clawson and many parent volunteers. It was a fun, rock-n-roll themed

Thank you to all the parents, teachers and staff both “experienced” and new to Prospect this year! Your enthusiasm,
creativity and dedication has kept us inspired every step of the way! We will miss working with you but look forward to
new and exciting opportunities. A special thank you to Mrs. Kryger - you are an amazing and caring leader and our
children are so fortunate to have you here at Prospect.

Prospect Peer
Mediators Celebrate
End of Year Party &
Buddy Bench Signing!
Congratulations to Prospect
Students Ella Barge, Cece Lynch,
Vandana Patel, Christopher
Rakos, Clare Kirby, Isabella
Leigh, Tessa Howe, Stella
Kaplanov, Kylie Furlong, and Mia
Gurka in a successful first ever
Peer Mediation Program at
Prospect! The 5th grade
students mediated peer conflicts
during lunch and recess using a
five step mediation process. The
mediators also created a "buddy
bench" for students to sit on
when in need of a friend. This
was a wonderful experience for
all. Thank you to Prospect's Peer
Mediators for making a
difference!

Prospect Prides
A big thank you for all you do!
A tremendous thank you to Art Awareness co-chairs, Barb Maduzia
and Lucia Davila—both of whom no longer have children at
Prospect!—for their leadership of this year’s “World Culture through
Art” program at Prospect. A special thank you to Lucia Davila for her
efforts creating all the take-home sheets for Art Awareness this year,
and to all the Art Express parent volunteers who have brought
American flag-themed art education into Prospect classrooms this
spring!
And a huge round of applause and thank you, again, to Barb Maduzia, who is “retiring” after 7 years as
the creative impetus for the Art Awareness program, and to Mrs. Kryger and Mrs. Tiemstra, whom she
credits for their tremendous support of this program all these years!
Many thanks to Kate Whelan and Beth Nordby for their fabulous leadership of Chess Club this year!
And many thanks to Sarah Rose for chaperoning the Chess Club session 4 pizza party, and to Bridget
O'Meara, Karen White, and Kathy Harenza for also serving as chaperones for Chess Club this session!
Thank you to Spring Book Fair co-chairs Michele Goggin and Kathie Cihlar and to Mrs. Swanson for
helping Prospect families stock up on great summer reads while benefitting our MRC and to the many
parent volunteers who made time during these busy spring days to help things run smoothly!
Heartfelt thanks to the many room parents who have organized and facilitated super fun classroom
parties and outings for each grade level all year long! And many thanks to room parent coordinator,
Kathie Cihlar, for helping to ensure all class party planning has run smoothly!
Tremendous thanks to Ms. Smiley and Miss Duffy for again organizing awesome Field Day fun for
Prospect students, and to the many parent volunteers who made the time to lend a helping hand! The
children love it when their parents help out at school!!
A big round of applause goes out to the Fifth Grade Activities Co-Chairs, Cyndi Breslow, Sayle Little,
Michele Kreischer, Linsey Rosland and the many parent volunteers who helped organize a fun and
memorable 5th Grade breakfast, Scavenger Hunt and Party at the Pavilion! A special acknowledgement
goes out to Cyndi Breslow for her leadership throughout the year. Our 5th grade graduates will cherish
these memories – thank you!

EcoPanthers were busy this Spring, they
studied the Environment at the Fullersburg
Nature Center, and worked hard in the OLC
cleaning and planting. Later, first graders
helped to spread the mulch to keep in the
moisture! Contact Mrs. Grant if you can help
out with watering this summer for one week.
The OLC has been
lucky this spring
with all the rain!
Several 5th grade
girls also helped
plant some bee
loving plants!

Dear Mr. Martinek and the Tameling Team,
Thank you so very much for the
generous donation of mulch for our Outdoor
Learning Center. The gardens look so much
better and we has a good time working as a
team getting it all spread.
We really have appreciated your help.
Very Sincerely,
Prospect School Students
Dear Walgreens,
Thank you for the
donation of the Sidewalk
Chalk!
We had a great time spreading
the message of respecting nature
and our Earth! Once they washed
away, we started again!
Thank you so very
much!
