The Trumpeter April 2015 Our Monday, April 20th program features Arizona’s 23rd governor, Doug Ducey. He’s already making headline news with the budget! This was his number one goal as stated in his inaugural State of the State address just a few months ago. We are fortunate to have a governor that realizes a balanced budget is his responsibility, and he certainly is taking action now! Education continues to be a hot topic for the Governor’s office and a subject we want to hear more about. Seven out of his seventeen goals have to do with education. Economic development continues to be a focus for him as well in attracting companies that want to call Arizona home in a business-friendly environment. He recently signed into law a no taxpayer-funded abortion bill. In just a few months into his new role, Governor Ducey is dedicated to making his vision a reality for the people of Arizona. Please join us in welcoming our new governor! On Tuesday, May 26, our program will feature Dr. Zudhi Jasser, founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, and an outspoken critic of radical Islamists. A P R I L 2015 • Republican Women of Prescott • www.RWOP.info Page 3 Americanism & Federal Issues Americanism Justice v. The Law The original objective of the courts was to secure justice. Over time, it shifted to upholding the law. Today it is merely settles disputes. The potential power of judges to do damage with the prudent foresight of the Founding Fathers resulted in four fundamental judicial principles to protect us from that abuse of power. 1. The three branches are not coequal. The Constitution made the legislative branch the most powerful and the judiciary branch the weakest. 2. The Judiciary is not independent—judges, legislators, and executives are all accountable to the people, not above or independent of them. 3. Judges do not have lifetime appointments (except for the U.S. Supreme Court). Judges of the Supreme and Inferior courts shall hold their offices during good behavior. Historic causes for impeachment of federal judges included: issuing an order that contradicted an act of Congress, drunkenness, excluding evidence from a trial, profanity. 4. Judges do NOT have the final word about the constitutionality of a law. Thomas Jefferson, Rufus King and Alexander Hamilton, along with many others, agreed that the judges must interpret the laws; not to be legislators of them. Under the current system, the People’s role in the judicial system is the smallest the U.S. republic has seen, and justice has been the casualty. Linda Gray, Americanism Chair Congratulations, Bibi! Despite all odds, Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu won re-election as prime minister of Israel, a longtime ally of the United States. He was re-elected because, unlike our president, Bibi loves his country, and wants the best for her. He has become more conservative, and has bravely spoken out against the countries that want to see Israel destroyed. Embarrassingly for us, Obama has shown his personal contempt for Israel, especially Bibi Netanyahu; and now the leader of the free world refuses to congratulate him on his win as prime minister. The president also refused to attend Bibi’s Congressional address on March 3rd where the prime minister laid out everything Israel would do to protect itself against the Islamic terrorist organizations and terroristsponsoring countries. To add salt to the wound, Obama even spent taxpayer money to send his left-wing operatives to Israel to support Netanyahu’s moderate challenger, Isaac Herzog. America needs to learn from Israel, and vote the most conservative candidate in our 2016 GOP Primary Election, one who isn't afraid stand up to the left’s untruths. The Jews ARE the "Chosen People" of God; He will always protect Israel. After all...Christ was a Jew! God bless Israel and God bless America!
