How to bid for council and housing association homes How to bid for council and housing association homes To bid for council or housing association properties through Moving with Dacorum you must first apply to our housing register and be accepted on to the active register. We advertise available properties every week on the website at www.movingwithdacorum.org.uk. A weekly property newsletter called Moving with Dacorum is also available from the Civic Centres in Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted, as well as Victoria Hall in Tring. You can register your interest in up to three properties in each bidding cycle. We advertise properties from one minute past midnight on Thursday morning to one minute to midnight on Monday evening. Property adverts We will make every effort to make sure that property adverts are accurate. Property adverts will contain details of the property and we use certain symbols to represent important features. How to bid on a property Bidding on properties by phone Reviewing or cancelling your bids If we accept you onto the active register, you can bid on properties in the following ways. • Online at www.movingwithdacorum.org.uk To bid by phone, you will need your unique reference number, memorable date, password and the reference numbers of the properties that you want to bid for. • By phone on 0300 111 3570 Step 1 • By sending a text message to 07786 201131 Dial 0300 111 3570 and follow the instructions provided. Use the numbers on your keypad which match the appropriate responses. When prompted, enter the numbers in your reference number followed by the hash key (#).The reference number you enter will be read back to you. Press 1 to confirm that your unique reference number is correct or press 2 to enter it again. If you have already bid on properties, when you dial 0300 111 3570 you will be read a list of properties with a number (for example, property one, number 9591). To cancel a bid you must press the number of the property that you want to cancel followed by the hash key (for example, 9591#). You will then be read the property reference number and your current position in the queue. Press 1 if you are sure you want to cancel your bid or press 2 to exit. Bidding on properties online To bid online you will need your unique reference number and memorable date password. Step 1 Visit www.movingwithdacorum.org.uk and log in to your Moving with Dacorum account using your unique reference number and memorable date. If you have forgotten your memorable date and included an email address in your application, you can click on ‘forgotten details’ for a reminder. Step 2 Step 2 You will then be asked to enter the day of your memorable date (DD) followed by the hash key, the month (MM) followed by the hash key and then finally the year (YYYY) followed by the hash key. Once you have logged in, you will see your ‘My account’ page. You will be able to view all the properties that you are entitled to live in by clicking on the ‘Eligible properties’ tab. Example: If your memorable date was 15 May 1952 you would enter 15#05#1952#. If you want to see all available properties, including those that you are not eligible for, you can search for properties using the property search page. If you are not eligible for a property, an explanation as to why will be displayed. You will then be instructed to enter the property reference number of the first property you want to bid on followed by the hash key. This reference number will be read back to you. If you are not eligible for the property, you will be told why. If you are eligible, you will be told your current position in the queue. To confirm your bid, press 1 or to change the property reference number press 2. Step 3 If you are eligible for a property, you will be given the option to ‘Apply now’. Once you have clicked on ‘Apply now’ you will be asked to confirm your bid. Once you have confirmed your bid, a message will show on screen to say it has been received successfully. You can withdraw any bid within the period of the advert cycle by going on the ‘My bids’ section of your ‘My account’ page. 3 Step 3 Step 4 If you want to make an extra bid, you must first follow the instructions provided and then repeat step 3. You can make up to three bids. Once you have placed your bids, press the star key to finish. 4 Bidding on properties by text message Step 1 Start a new text message on a mobile phone. Type your unique reference number followed by a space. For example, 12345 . Step 2 Type your memorable date in the form of dd/mm/yyyy followed by a space. For example, 12345 16/03/1975 . Step 3 Type the reference number of the first property you want to bid on followed by a space. For example, 12345 16/03/1975 336699 . If you want to bid on another property, type the second property reference number followed by a space. Repeat this for a third property if necessary. Step 4 Send the text message to 07786 201 131. Once you have sent the text message you will receive a text confirming that your bids have been made. If your bid is not accepted, you will receive a text stating why it has not been accepted. 5
