North Junior High Announcements Wednesday October 8, 2014 Healthy Communities Study: Hey Vikings! North is lucky! We were picked to be in the Healthy Communities Study! Do you want to help our community? Do you want to help our country? Talk to your parents about being in the Healthy Communities Study! Survey envelopes were handed out to students in PE or Health this semester. If you are in the study, they will ask you about what you eat and the physical activities you do. They will also measure your height and weight. Your family will get gifts to thank you for being in the study. Please take the form home with you and ask your parents to fill it out and sign it. Don’t forget to turn in your signed Study Interest Form to your teacher by 10/17! When you turn in your signed form you will receive a small gift from the study, whether your family wants to be in the study or not! Spirit Day: Hey Vikings! Our Fall pep assembly is tomorrow, which means it is Blue and White Day. Wear your Viking colors to support all of our fall athletes. School Dance: The first dance of the year is tomorrow, October 9th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The theme is Future. Dress like you are from the future Star Trek, Star Wars, robots aliens, etc. No masks will be allowed. If you don’t have a dance pass, the cost is $5.00 with your student ID card. Bring money for the photo booth and snacks. You must have a current student ID card to get into the dance on Thursday night. If you need a new card or did not get a permanent ID card, see Ms. Beverage or Mrs. McCabe in the main office. There is a $5.00 charge to replace a lost ID card. National Junior Honor Society: Are you one of the 94 students currently in national junior honor society? If you are we will expect to see you for our 1st official meeting tomorrow during 9th grade lunch in the gym. The meeting will start promptly at 12:30 so don't be late! Robotics: We will be starting North's Robotics club up again. We will be having our first meeting today after school at 2:35 in room D under the cafeteria where you can get information about the club and pick up an application. If you're interested in designing, building, and programming a robot on a team to compete in regional competitions, than this is the club for you. Donuts are back. If you want a scrumptious, amazing, guaranteed to make your tummy happy maple bar or chocolate bar, grab one on Wednesday at break, right outside the cafeteria. They are only 2 dollars and will put a smile on your face. Remember Vikings, donuts on Wednesdays, at Break for $2.00. Snow Riders: Attention all Snow Riders! If you are planning on being part of the North Snow Riders ski, snowboard, and now NORDIC club, please stop by Room 100 at BREAK today! We have a great opportunity for you to participate in the Bogus Bash this weekend. All 9th grade Snow Riders . . . you will earn community service hours for your participation! That's Room 100, Ms Zachary's room, at break today to sign up! Food Service: Did you know that next week is National School Lunch Week? To celebrate, we have a fun contest going on! Take a “selfie” of you and your school lunch to be entered into a drawing. Prizes may include ice skating passes at Idaho Ice World, tickets to the Corn Maze and Pumpkin Festival at The Farmstead, or tickets to a Steelhead hockey game! For more information on about the contest, check out the poster located in the cafeteria. Volleyball: Congratulations to the 8th grade varsity volleyball team on their win against East yesterday. The lady Vikings continue their undefeated season. Top players were Maggie, Claire, and Sofia. Tennis: Good morning, 7th grade tennis players! As you know, the Blue squad of the Viking tennis team has an away match at Hillside today after school. Blue squad players: after school today, get dressed quickly and meet Mr. Porter on the 7th grade side of the school by 2:45. The school will be open when we return at 5:30, so there's no need to bring bulky backpacks or band instruments unless you plan on getting a ride home from your parents. White squad will have practice at Boise High today with Coach Erlander. If you are unsure which squad you belong to, 7th graders, please check the lists that are posted outside of Mr. Hunt's door downstairs, and Mr. Brown's door upstairs.
