Shifts with
Common Core:
Common Core impacts everyone,
particularly with its focus on nonfiction reading. Although Math
and ELA are directly impacted,
Social Studies, Science, and CTE courses can support the students with this
skill. Let’s be IN FRONT of the Common Core Standards, carving our own
path, and focusing on the things we can control.
Next week we will focus on curriculum in your classroom, but this week I
wanted to provide what I think is the best Common Core Resource available.

st
Please email me by Friday, October 31 , if you are
interested. If you are interested you can
also send a book selection. We will review
book selections on vote on which 3 books
we would like to read.
What do you think?
We are thinking about doing away with sending home a
paper copy of the 6-week grades. We would work to push
them out through Skyward and inform parents of the
change through a Connect Ed phone call. Do you have an
opinion on this? Please let me know.
