MATERIAL RESEARCH STRATEGY AND STRUCTURAL MATERIALS
IN JAPAN
The lecture will take place at the Faculty of Materials Science & Engineering
of the Warsaw University of Technology (ul. Wołoska 141) on Monday, November 17th, 2014 at 2 p.m.
Dr. Teruo Kishi received the degree of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1969. His expertise is materials science, especially fracture mechanics
and nondestructive testing of materials. He was Associate Professor, the Institute of Space and Aeronautical Science (ISAS), Professor, the Research Center for
Advanced Science and Technology (RCAST), the University of Tokyo, Director General of RCAST (1995), and Director General of the National Institute for Advanced
Interdisciplinary Research, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) (1997). He was Vice President of the Science Council of Japan (2003) and President of
the Japan Federation of Engineering Societies (2007). At present, he is Advisor of both Four University Nano-micro Consortium and of Tsukuba Innovation Arena
(TIA), and he is also Director of Strategic International Program of JST. He Started new Job as a President of Consortium of Innovative Structural Materials Project of
METI (2013) and become a Program Director of Cabinet Office on Science, Technology and Innovation to establish new project of Structural Materials of CSTP
(2013). He has been awarded many honors including ‘Honda Memorial Award' in Japan and Dresden Barkhausen Award' in Germany and Distinguished Fellow of
AMS and etc.
