We traveled to Abilene last Friday and came away with a hard fought 28-14 victory. Abilene finishes
their season 6-3. They lost to Hays by 1 point, McPherson 11 and lost to us by 14. Their defense held
our offense to our lowest total yards of the year. We had 301 total yards of offense.
Dillon Engelland had 108 yards rushing on 20 carries and 3 TD’s. He had a 58 yard kick-off return that
set up our first score. Jace Williams was held to 55 yards rushing on 10 carries, he was 7-14 passing for
111 yards. Dakota Wolf continues to play well running and catching the ball. He had 24 yards rushing
and 60 yards receiving.
Our offensive line is working hard to be consistent. They saw a lot of different defensive looks against Abilene. Dalton Roberts
was our Mooseman and Dustin Rush was Runner-up.
Our defense had one of their best games of the year. Davey Dukart and Jaden Abernathy led the team in tackles with 9, Jaden
has been playing great defense for us the last several weeks. Chase Shantz continues to be a dominate force on the D- line,
Chase had 7 tackles 1 fumble recovery and 3 tackles for a loss. Dillon Engelland and Connor Ridder each had an interception.
Jordan Wedel had a fumble recovery also.

Commentary from Coach Warner on Upcoming Opponent
November 7 AWAY Ulysses (7-2), 6:30PM
On Friday we travel to Ulysses for the third year in a row. I really like the long road trips. It is like a college game. We will be
together the entire day. We will take two charter buses and eat at the Cattleman’s Café in Sublette. (I love that place) 
Ulysses played us better than anyone else last year on our play-off run. We know they will be very good. They are led by three
year starter Ian Rudzick. Ian is a junior and has put up tremendous numbers each of his three years a starter.
They run the wing T offense and run several different defenses that our line will have to recognize. We will have to execute our
schemes for us to be successful.
We are very excited to be in the play-offs and can’t wait until Friday!

Senior Spotlight
Logan Lindbloom:
While his classmates grew up playing football on youth teams, Logan went a different
route. He grew up studying tae kwon do. This is a sport that runs in the family. His
dad started at an early age and taught Logan growing up. As in football, he has had a
lot of success in this sport. When he was sixteen years old he fought in the eighteen
and up division and took second in a meet. Logan achieved his black belt at age seven
teen. He continues his tae kwon do work outs and after football practices often
teaches kids the sport in the evenings. Logan used his experience in tae kwon do to
succeed in wrestling in school. He’s wrestled from his seventh grade year to this, his
senior year. He missed state (wrestling at 170 #) by one point his sophomore year and
had a tough draw to miss state his junior year but is looking forward to starting his last
year of wrestling at BHS as soon as football ends. Off the mat and field, he likes to fish
and hunt. He hunts upland game and has shot a few doe during deer season.
Because he concentrated on tae kwon do as a youth, he didn’t start football until his
seventh grade year. He started playing linebacker and offensive guard in junior high
and remains at these positions today. His favorite memory in football is his first start
at outside linebacker against Mulvane this year. Logan has thought a lot of his future. He plans to be a nurse anesthetist and
is considering attending Kansas Newman College for their anesthetist program (he’s also like to wrestle in college). Logan is
very excited to begin playoff action in Ulysses this week to begin the journey to state.
Ethan Ricker:
Ethan grew up playing basketball his favorite sport. He started playing in the first grade and
has played every year since. Last year he was a big part of the varsity team starting at
guard/forward as a junior. He’s looking forward to continuing to help build the program this
year when football concludes. He also enjoys running track in the spring (triple jump his
junior year). Ehan has a lot of hobbies. He likes spending time outdoors. He rides four
wheelers and likes to duck hunt (limited a bit because of basketball season).
Ethan plays wide receiver for the Crusaders this year. His senior year is his first full year of
football in high school. As a relatively new member of the team he has an interesting
perspective. When I ask him what he’ll remember most about his football career he
immediately talks about the Crusader team traditions. Ethan has been involved in a number
of activities at BHS and says ‘It’s not like any other sport’. As fans we see the finished
product on the field on Fridays but all of the players that I talk to can’t say enough about the
traditions and the culture of family started by Coach Warner and passed down class to class.
Interesting, they remember what happens off the field more than their game experiences.
Ethan is working with his classmates on making another state championship part of their
memories of a great senior year.

LEAGUE CHAMPS!!- What a way to end the season! We were able to come away undefeated in our division with a 36-20 win
against Goddard last Thursday. It all started with a huge stop by our defense on their 1st possession. Then on our first
offensive play of the night Colton Goans handed off to Jordan Hawkins on a jet sweep. Jordan turned on the afterburners
and, after a nice block by Cale McCabe, scampered 65 yards down the sideline for a score. On the next drive, Cole Janzen
scored on a 70 yd. trap play up the middle and we tacked on a nice extra point with a QB scramble and hook up with tight
end Tharin Cook. One of the highlights on defense came when the Goddard QB came down the line on an option play and
was forced to pitch. Unfortunately for him there was no pitch man and the ball ended up on the turf, at which time Garrison
Foulk scooped it up and took it 50 yds. for the score. It was a fun year seeing these young men come together and fight for
the league championship and ultimately achieve their goal. I look forward to following them on up through their high school
football careers and hopefully more championships at the STATE level!

Coaches Commentary
On Monday, October 13th the 7th grade B Team beat Goddard 34-0. This was a great performance by the B team to finish off their
football season. No stats were taken for this game.
The 7th grade football team finished up their season on Thursday, October 16th with a thrilling 22-20 victory over Goddard. This was
just a great 7th grade game. So many good plays were made by so many players to preserve the win. Austin Gentry got the scoring started
for the Crusaders with a 38 yard run and he also ran the PAT in to give the Crusaders a 8-0 lead. Goddard came back and scored on a long
run as well, but the Crusaders stopped them on the PAT to hold a 8-6 lead. Goddard took the lead with a touchdown run and made the
PAT to take a 14-8 lead. The Crusaders came back and scored on an Austin Gentry 6 yard touchdown run. The PAT was no good so the
score was tied 14-14. Goddard scored just before the half to make the score 20-14 at halftime. Luke Winters had a huge tackle on the PAT
to keep Goddard out of the endzone. The Crusaders made a halftime adjustment to switch to a 6-2 defense. The kids did a great job in
stopping the run. Early in the 3rd quarter Ian Stubbs took the hand-off on a trap play and raced 35 yards for a touchdown to make it 20-20.
The offensive line blocked the play perfectly. The oh so important extra point play was converted on a pass play from Cade Miller to
Briggam McCurdy. Briggam made a nice catch and move to get into the endzone for the go ahead to point conversion. The Crusaders lead
22-20. The 4th quarter was exciting and intense. Big stops were made by several Crusaders. Kahalawai McDowell had a huge interception
to stop a Goddard drive. Late in the 4th quarter Buhler had a chance to ice the game, but turned the ball over. Godard took the ball down
to the 20 yard line and Thomas Cox made a touchdown saving tackle. The Crusaders forced Goddard into a 2nd & long and Thomas Cox
stepped in front of a pass down the middle and intercepted the ball, a huge play to give the ball back to the Crusaders with a little over a
minute left in the game. Goddard used their last time out and the Crusaders were able to take a knee the last 3 snaps of the game to get
an awesome 22-20 win.
I'm so proud of these kids for sticking with it and getting much better the last 3 weeks of the season. It was an awesome way to end the
season!! A great team effort!! The excitement after the game was incredible!!
