A Reason To Celebrate
Sr. Regina Avard who resides in our
convent, has passed a remarkable milestone
in her life. This year Sr. Regina celebrates
her 75th year as a Presentation Sister.
Sister’s connection to our parish is a long
one. When our school opened in February
1953 she was one of five sisters who were
assigned as the first teaching staff. After a
successful career here, moving from teacher
of grade five to six, then seven and then
Page 2 - 625
eight, Sr. Regina was transferred to other
schools of the Presentation Sisters in the
Archdiocese of New York. In 1970, Sister
returned to St. Andrew’s as Principal of our
school and remained until 1976. Once again
she was transferred to other schools and
filled various roles in education.
In 2011, Sr. Regina requested to retire here
at St. Andrew Convent. It is especially
significant today, when long-term
commitments and religious vocations are
increasingly fewer, that we celebrate a life
of faithfulness, service and prayer.
On Sunday, November 23rd, the 11:15 a.m.
Mass will be offered in thanks giving for the
life and works of Sr. Regina. We hope you
will join us in praying for Sister and for an
increase in religious vocations.
Annual Parish Christmas Concert
Join St. Andrew’s Music Ministry in
celebrating the joy of the Christmas season
with our annual Parish Christmas Concert,
Sunday, December 14th at 5:00 p.m. in the
Church. (Snow date, December 21st)
Leading the congregation in carols and
performing various solos will be our adult
choir, children’s choir and newly-formed
teen choir. We will also welcome several
musical guests this year for some fantastic
additions to our repertoire! Light
refreshments will be served in the Church
Hall afterwards. Please join us, fun for all
ages!
Thank You
Sunday, November 9th - $8341.02
Project Faith - $2,086.00
The weekly collection continues to be very
important. Thanks to all who are generous
and faithful in parish support.
Advent Penance Service
As we prepare to celebrate the Nativity of
Our Lord, Jesus Christ, it is important that
we take a moment to acknowledge our
sinfulness before God. St. Andrew’s would
like to extend an invitation to all our
parishioners to participate in our Advent
Penance with individual confessions,
thereby providing the faithful with an
opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of
Reconciliation before Christmas. During
this service, multiple priests from the area
will be available to celebrate the Sacrament.
This service will take place on Wednesday,
December 10th at 7:00 p.m. Please make an
effort to attend this service to prepare your
hearts and minds for Our Lords Birth!
The Giving Tree
It is that time of year for us to start thinking
about the “Giving Tree”. During the
weekend of November 29th and 30th the
Giving Tree will be located in the Gathering
Space. You are kindly invited to take one of
its Angels and purchase the gift written on
that angel for a needy child, baby, teenager
or adult. You are then asked to please wrap
the gift, tape the Angel on the outside of the
package and place it under the tree by
Sunday, December 14th. The gifts are
scheduled to be picked up on Monday,
December 15th. Your spirit of giving to
these needy individuals in the past has been
so very wonderful! God Bless all of you for
what you do in making the less fortunate
have a special Christmas too.
Thanksgiving Holiday
The Rectory Office will be closed on Wednesday,
November 26th at 12:30 p.m. and reopen on
Monday, December 1st at 9:00 a.m.

Thanksgiving Food Baskets
This is the time of year when we receive
many requests to help with food baskets for
needy families. If you are able to contribute
food (non-perishable) you may do so on the
weekend of November 22nd and 23rd. Some
of the collected food is given to Catholic
Charities and they are in great need of
turkeys. Turkeys may be donated on
Monday morning, November 24th in the
Church Hall. We cannot accept turkeys
before or after that date. We can accept
turkeys and food until 11:00 a.m. on
Monday. We will begin preparation for
distribution Monday, November 24th after
the 8:00 a.m. Mass in the meeting room.
Can you help? We ask any parishioner
who can use a basket to please call the
